A watch (2) includes: a case (4); a movement (6) incorporated in the case; a lower glass (10) forming at least in part the back (12); a decorative structure (16) visible axially from the side of the front face (20) of the watch and comprising at least one transparent and/or translucent portion (16a) which is visible axially through the lower glass; a light source (26): and a mirror (28). The light source emit light towards the mirror arranged below the light source and below a rear surface (18) of the decorative structure, the mirror receiving most of the light energy emitted by the light source and reflecting the light from the light source so that the reflected light is incident on the rear surface of the decorative structure in at least one area (18a) defined by the at least one transparent and/or translucent portion.

The invention relates to a timepiece including, in addition to a crystal (34), the following external elements: a back (2), a middle (1), a dial (3) and two bracelet strands (30), at least one of these external elements comprising at least one part made of an at least partially transparent or translucent ceramic material, the timepiece further including at least two point light sources (10) releasing heat, each light source (10) being capable of being separately switched on/off and being disposed in or directly beneath said at least one external element comprising the ceramic material, each light source (10) producing light that passes through the ceramic material of said external element, and wherein each light source (10) is configured to produce localised light on a point or quasi-point area (40) of the ceramic material of the external element concerned, so as to produce localised illumination on said external element.

A decorative item including an element made at least partly of a metallic, polymeric or ceramic based material and including a face visible to an observer, at least one light source external or internal to the element, the decorative item further includes at least one optical fibre embedded in the material of the element, the optical fibre serving as a guide for the light from the light source in order to produce, during use, a light effect on the visible face of the element. A method for manufacturing the decorative item is also disclosed.
