Abstract:
A fixing device is mounted on a main casing of an image forming apparatus. A heating member contacts a recording medium to apply heat thereto while rotating. A heating member includes a roller that rotates about an axis. A frame supports the heating member and includes a frame fixing part that is fixed to the main casing to mount the frame on the main casing. A detecting unit opposes the heating member in an opposing direction to detect a temperature of the heating member and is separated from the heating member. A support member supports the detecting unit. A position of the support member in the opposing direction with respect to the frame is determined at a position closer to the frame fixing unit than the detecting unit. A position of the support member in an axial direction of the roller with respect to the frame is determined at a same position as the detecting unit in the axial direction.
Abstract:
In a printer, a scanner unit is formed into a taper shape having a thinner thickness on a side of a pick-up roller in a removing direction of a process unit, to allow the process unit to be removed from the printer. A part of a sheet feeding path is formed in an area between the process unit and a sheet cassette. An image forming position on the sheet feed path is set lower than an upper end of the pick-up roller. Thus, removal of the process unit can be readily performed. Further, the height of the printer at a position of the pick-up roller can be reduced as compared with a case where the scanner unit is not formed into a taper shape.
Abstract:
A fixing unit of an image-forming device having a heating roller, a pressure roller disposed in confrontation with the heating roller, and a case that rotatably supports the heating roller on both longitudinal ends thereof and covers the heating roller from the side opposite the pressure roller, while leaving the pressure roller exposed. A pair of pressure roller support plates, one end of which is supported on the case, rotatably supports both ends of the pressure roller. With this construction, a more compact fixing unit can be achieved than when the case is configured to cover the heating roller and pressure roller entirely. The fixing unit includes a temperature fuse for restraining abnormal temperature rises in the heating roller, and a temperature fuse cover that extends from an inner wall of the case to provide insulation between the temperature fuse and the heating roller. By integrally forming the temperature fuse cover with the case, it is possible to reduce the manufacturing costs of the fixing unit. Support members may also be provided between a bottom surface of the case and the temperature fuse cover to restrain deformation of the temperature fuse cover.
Abstract:
A charger includes a frame and a cover member, together defining an internal space. A discharge wire for producing a discharge for a photosensitive drum is disposed within the internal space. A cleaner for cleaning the discharge wire is also disposed within the internal space. When the cover member is open, a user accesses the cleaner and slides the cleaner on the discharge wire, thereby cleaning the discharge wire.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes: a developing unit; a housing section; a detecting unit; a protective member; and a displacement mechanism. The developing unit that houses a developer. The housing section removably houses the developing unit. The detecting unit is disposed in the housing section and detects developing unit information which is information on the developing unit, from the developing unit. The protective member is configured to be capable of displacing from a first arrangement protecting the detecting unit from surroundings of the detecting unit to a second arrangement allowing the detecting unit to detect the developing unit information. When the developing unit is mounted in the housing section, the displacement mechanism supplies the protective member with power to displace the protective member from the first arrangement to the second arrangement.
Abstract:
A fixing unit is disposed at a position closer to a rear side wall than to a front side wall of a casing. A top wall is formed with a depressed portion depressed toward inside the casing. The depressed portion serves as a sheet discharge tray for receiving a recording medium that has passed through the fixing unit. The sheet discharge tray includes a tray member detachably disposed at the top wall. The rear side wall is formed with an opening through which the fixing unit is removed. When the tray member is disposed at the top wall, the tray member is positioned above and adjacent to the fixing unit and overlaps the fixing unit when viewed through the opening, thereby preventing the fixing unit from being removed from the casing. The fixing unit is removable through the opening when the tray member is detached from the top wall.
Abstract:
A fixing device for fixing a developed image of developer onto a recording sheet by heating and fusing the developer includes a heating roller, a pressure roller and a driving force input element. The heating roller is configured to be heated by a heat source, such as a halogen heater. The pressure roller is disposed adjacent to the heating roller, such that a recording sheet is fed and conveyed between the pressure roller and the heating roller. The driving force input element is fixed to the pressure roller for causing the pressure roller to rotate. A diameter Dp of the pressure roller and a nip width N between the heating roller and the pressure roller in circumferential directions thereof have a relationship represented by the following expression: 0.24
Abstract:
A developing apparatus is accommodated within a laser printer. The developing apparatus includes a developing casing and a toner electric field transport body. The toner electric field transport body includes a transport wiring substrate and a transport-substrate support member. A plurality of transport electrodes are provided on the transport wiring substrate. The transport wiring substrate is supported by the transport-substrate support member in a state in which the transport wiring substrate is deformed in a tubular shape. In some examples, a tensile fixing means may fix the transport wiring substrate to the transport-substrate support member. Further, the transport wiring substrate is supported by the transport-substrate support member such that margin areas of the transport wiring substrate, which are opposite end portions of the transport wiring substrate with respect to a sub-scanning direction and in which the transport electrodes are not formed, are separated from a toner transport path.

Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier that carries a developer image; a transfer member that transfers the developer image carried on the image carrier onto an image forming surface of a recording medium being conveyed; a fixation member that is disposed downstream of the transfer member in a conveyance direction of the recording medium, and fixes the developer image transferred on the recording medium; a first member that is disposed between the transfer member and the fixation member to face the image forming surface of the recording medium; and a second member that is disposed between the transfer member and the fixation member to face a non-image forming surface that is opposite the image forming surface, wherein the first member is provided with a first electrically-conductive member having an electric conductivity and being grounded.
