摘要： A focusing apparatus for a surveying instrument including an objective lens, a focusing lens and a reticle. The focusing lens is movable in an optical axis direction, by a rotating shaft member which is rotated by a motor, to form an image, of an object to be surveyed, on the reticle. Means for detecting a focus state of the object image and for controlling the motor in accordance with the detected focus state are provided. A focusing knob, coaxial with the rotating shaft member, and movable in an axial direction thereof is also provided. A plurality of clutches disengageably engages the focusing knob or the motor with the rotating shaft member, according to an axial movement of the focusing knob.

In order to eliminate any aberration occuring when the hologram is used in a light beam of a different wavelength and to obtain high diffraction efficiency, a making light beam is caused to enter a predetermined coaxial optical system from outside the axis thereof to impart a suitable aberration, and a hologram is formed on a hologram sensitive material by the making light beam.

The illuminator is made of a shallow box-form holder having a reflective inner surface, a plurality of LED's installed in at least one side wall of the holder, a light-diffusing plate installed between the liquid crystal display panel and the holder, and a printed circuit board mounted on the outer surface of the bottom of the holder. The LED's are of different light directional angles and inclined toward the bottom surface of the holder so that the light from the LED's can be reflected by the reflective bottom surface towards the display panel.

In the sheet registering unit, the shafts supporting the roller members of the registering roller device or the roller members are supported by the combination of linear bearing members and springs, and by a pressure in the oblique direction caused in the sheet nipped by the registering roller device, the roller members of the registering roller device are shifted in the axial direction.
