Abstract: A cordless retractable shade including an operating system for the shade that varies a biasing force of a spring to counterbalance the shade. The bottom rail of a retractable shade can be raised or lowered, and due to the operating system remains in any selected position of the covering between fully extended and fully retracted, without the use of operating cords. The system includes a method of negating and reversing the spring bias effect at a strategic position whereby the flexible vanes of the shade can be adjusted between open and closed.

Abstract: In one aspect, an adjustable mount assembly for mounting a covering rod relative to an adjacent architectural structure comprises a rod mount including a base plate having an inner side and an outer side opposite the inner side. In addition, the rod mount further includes a rod cradle extending outwardly from the outer side of the base plate, with the rod mount being rotatable about a mount axis to adjust a circumferential position of the rod cradle. The mount assembly also includes an engagement member supported relative to the rod mount such that the engagement member is configured to engage at least a portion of the rod mount as the mount is rotated relative to the engagement member about the mount axis.

Abstract: A tilt-control assembly for use with an operating mechanism of an architectural-structure covering is disclosed. The tilt-control assembly includes a limiter having an external screw thread and a ball operatively associated with the screw threads so that rotation of the limiter moves the ball relative to the limiter. The screw threads may include variable pitch threads. For example, the screw thread may include a middle thread pitch in a middle portion of the screw thread and an end thread pitch adjacent to the ends of the screw thread, the middle thread pitch being smaller than the end thread pitch. In addition, the limiter and/or screw threads may include a variable diameter. The ball may be positioned within a groove including a contoured surface that substantially corresponds to the variable diameter. The ends of the screw thread may include substantially spherically shaped end portions for receiving the ball therein.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to control an architectural opening covering assembly are disclosed herein. An example system includes a first architectural opening covering assembly to identify a first position of a first covering as a first reference position in response to a first command to store a first speed at which the first assembly is to be driven. The first assembly is to operate a first motor to move the first covering at the first stored speed in response to a second command. The example system includes a second architectural opening covering assembly to store a second speed at which the second covering is to be driven in response to a third command. The second assembly is to operate a second motor at the second stored speed in response to a fourth command to move the second covering.

Abstract: A covering for an architectural feature having generally horizontal vane elements coupled to and located between generally front and rear generally vertical support members, which in preferred embodiments are adjustable to control the amount of light transmitted through the covering. In one embodiment the covering has three dimensional multi-layered, cellular vanes, and in another embodiment, the one or more support members are formed of a dark color, the rear support member(s) may be formed of material that is darker than the front support member(s), or vise versa. In another embodiment, the support members, e.g., sheers, have an openness factor, preferably as low as about sixty-five percent (65%) to as large as about ninety percent (90%). Other embodiments include structure, assemblies and methods for controlling the closure of the covering as well as embodiments of bottom rail assemblies. Also provided is a method of manufacturing the covering.

Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to a covering for architectural features, which may include windows, doorways, archways, and the like, where the covering includes a panel made from a light diffusing material. The light diffusing material is designed and engineered to allow a significant amount of light to pass through the material for providing a desired visual effect while having improved dimensional stability. The covering may contain a light diffusing material that extends along a first direction of the covering (e.g., vertically). The light diffusing material may have an openness factor of about 60% or greater and contain pillars extending in the first direction and bridges extending between the pillars. Each pillar may contain at least two yarns, and each bridge may contain at least one yarn.

Abstract: A connector for coupling to a bead chain is disclosed. In use, the connector is arranged and configured so that the connector can pass over a bearing. In one example of an embodiment, the bearing is positioned in a tensioner so that the connector moves through the tensioner, which is operatively coupled to the bead chain. In one example embodiment, application of a force on the bead chain to move the covering between an extended position and a retracted position, self-orients the connector so that a top portion of the connector faces and/or contacts the bearing so that the connector smoothly passes across an exterior arcuate surface of the bearing. In one example embodiment, the top portion includes a curved surface to contact the curved surface of the bearing.

Abstract: Examples of rail assemblies for architectural coverings disclosed herein stabilize motor assemblies via end caps to reduce transfers of vibrational motor forces to the rails. An example rail for an architectural covering includes a housing, a motor to be disposed in the housing, and an end cap to be coupled to said housing. The example rail includes a track defined in an exterior face of the rail. A first portion of the end cap is to be received in the track. The end cap is capable of at least two degrees of freedom of motion relative to the housing prior to the first portion being received in the track. In the example rail, the track is to restrict the at least two degrees of freedom of motion of the end cap when the first portion of the end cap is received in the track.
