    摘要: A composite sports racquet frame is made by placing a first prepreg tube into a first mold plate and a second prepreg tube into a second mold plate. A plurality of pin plates, each having a plurality of pins which are at least substantially parallel to one another, are secured to the mold plate so that, when the mold is closed, the pins extend between the two tubes. The tubes are pressurized to assume the shape of the mold and contact one another, and the mold is heated to allow resin to flow between the tubes as they cure, the pins forming pin holes in the frame. Once cured, the frame is removed from the mold, and the pins are withdrawn. If desired, the ends of the tubes forming the handle section can be kept separate from one another during the molding process, by using a removable mold plate. In this manner, not only do the two tubes become integral with one another, at least in the head portion, but string holes do not need to be drilled after the racquet is molded.

    摘要: A composite sports racquet includes a head portion which is formed by an upper frame half and a lower frame half. Each frame half is a tubular frame section, and includes a generally flat wall. The two walls are bonded to one another to form a unitary head portion, whereby the first and second walls form internal frame ribs oriented generally parallel to the string bed plane and extending continuously around the head portion. The upper and lower frame halves are preferably pre-molded individually and thereafter glued to one another. Alternatively, one of the frame halves can be pre-molded, with the other frame half thereafter molded onto the pre-molded half Preferably, the first and second walls include a plurality of channel portions which, when the racquet halves are joined, define the string holes. Preferably, the channel portions are contoured at the outer frame surface to form curved bearing surfaces for string entry. Also, if desired, the string holes can be molded so as to extend parallel to the string ends, rather than perpendicular to the racquet frame as is generally done with drilled string holes. Preferably, the string holes have a dimension, in a direction perpendicular to the string bed plane, which is substantially greater than the diameter of standard racquet strings, so that the strings are supported only on the outer portion of the frame, thereby extending the effective string length.

    摘要: A method of making a fibre-reinforced molded racquet frame is disclosed. The method comprises placing two cores each including a respective tube having at least one layer of woven reinforcing fibres in a mold shaped to define the frame. A respective core is positioned on each side of the split-line of the mold. A plurality of string-securing members are formed with each string-securing member comprising a first portion shaped to receive and position at least one string of stringing to be secured in the frame and a second portion adapted to be embedded in the frame. The string-securing member is supported such that, upon closure of the mold, the second portions are disposed inside the mold cavity and entrapped between the two cores while the first portions project out of the mold cavity into the area which will be surrounded by the mold frame. A plastics material is injected into the mold around the cores and the second portions of the string-securing members. The plastics material preferably has a relatively low setting temperature and a relatively low viscosity.

    摘要: A method of producing a racket frame, in which multiple layers of wooden strips are laminated to form a racket frame. An elongate groove is made at least in a wooden strip of mid layer on the side perpendicular to the string of the racket. The groove includes a shallow elongate central portion and two deeper elongate portions joining longitudinally with the central portion. A reinforcing material is filled in the groove and the mid layer is then plied with the wooden strips of other layers by means of adhesive. The preformed frame is heated and the reinforcing material sets in the groove and form an integral body therewith.The racket frame comprises, a plurality of elongate wooden strips laminated and fabricated to form a frame; and a reinforcing material being sandwiched in the mid part of the frame. The reinforcing material extends longitudinally along the frame and have a structure in which the cross section is narrow at the central part and broad about two ends.

    摘要: A training aid for use by a player with a tennis racquet includes at least one wing having a proximal end in the throat of the racquet, and extending from that proximal end and tapering down into a distal end. A second wing may also be included, with the two wings extending in opposite directions from the throat of the racquet. When the player makes a stroke with the racquet with the aid attached, air pressure on the wings creates forces which provide the player with feedback on the position of the racquet head during the stroke. The training aid may be removably attached to the racquet, to allow the racquet to be used in normal play situations. A rotatable flap may also be provided near the distal end of at least one of the wings, so that when the flap is rotated the air pressure on the flap during a stroke is altered, thereby changing the feedback provided to the player.

The frame includes two halves having two spaced apart hoop regions, two handle regions and two mating surfaces. One of the halves includes a set of projections extending from one of the mating surfaces. At least one of the halves defines a set of bores. The projections are configured to engage the bores. At least two of the projections are stepped projections having a proximal section and a distal section. The transverse cross-sectional area of the proximal section is greater than the transverse cross-sectional area of the distal section. Two of the bores are configured to receive the corresponding distal sections, but not the proximal sections, of the two stepped projections, such that the projected height of the proximal section of the two stepped projections substantially defines the spacing between the hoop portions.
