摘要： A turbomachinery component of a gas turbine engine is disclosed having a number of techniques of reducing the effects of a gap flow between an airfoil member of the gas turbine engine and a wall of the gas turbine engine. The airfoil member can be a variable and in one form is a variable turbine vane. In one embodiment a brush seal is included between the vane and the wall. In another form a wear surface is disposed between the vane and the wall. In yet another form a moveable member capable of being actuated to change position can be disposed between the vane and the wall to alter the size of a gap between the two.

摘要： A brush seal cover assembly that includes a brush cover having a shroud that substantially encloses a brush mounted in a holder without removing the holder from the equipment to which it is mounted. The assembly includes a pair of brush cover halves integrally formed to provide an outer bristle guard capable of supporting the weight of a person and a pair of brush shields on opposite sides of the brush that prevent direct impingement of pressurized gas or liquid enabling maintenance and cleaning of the equipment to be performed while leaving the brush mounted in place without damaging the brush. The cover includes a pair of mounting plates configured for mounting of the cover by clamping or by compression between fasteners without having to remove the brush holder from the equipment or the brush from the holder.

摘要： A method for modifying a sealing system of a hydrogen-cooled generator includes coupling to a sealing device of the generator a contacting seal comprising a plurality of non-metallic bristles projecting from an aluminum body with tips of the bristles engaging a rotor of the generator. Another method includes removing a portion of a non-contacting seal, providing a replacement sealing device comprising an aluminum body and a plurality of non-metallic bristles projecting therefrom, and replacing the removed portion of the non-contacting seal by coupling the aluminum body to the non-contacting seal such that tips of the bristles contact the rotor. Another method includes removing an original sealing device, providing a replacement sealing device comprising an aluminum body and a plurality of non-metallic bristles projecting therefrom, and inserting the replacement sealing device into the generator such that tips of the bristles contact a rotor of the generator.
