摘要: A system and method for charging a weapon. In an illustrative embodiment, a charging assembly attaches to the side of an MK19 grenade launcher. The charging assembly includes a chain that attaches at one end to the charging bolt of the MK19 grenade launcher. The other end of the chain attaches to a crank assembly. The crank assembly includes a handle and a sprocket that rotate around a pivot axis, pulling on the chain and the charging bolt. The sprocket is large enough that the charging bolt is fully drawn by rotating the handle and the sprocket less than one full rotation around the pivot axis.

摘要: A firearm includes a receiver and a bolt carrier disposed in the receiver. The bolt carrier is moveable between a firing position and a rearward position. A rod is fixed relative to the bolt carrier and a hand guard is coupled to the receiver about the rod. A handle assembly is slideably supported by the hand guard and is moveable toward the receiver to define a charging motion and away from the receiver to define a forward assist motion. The handle assembly receives the rod during both of the charging and forward assist motions. An arm is coupled to the base and is moveable between a disengaged position spaced from the rod and an engaged position abutting the rod. When the arm is in the engaged position, the handle assembly is moved to move the rod and the bolt carrier in either of the charging and the forward assist motions.

摘要: A remote cocking and charging device for a weapon on a mount, the weapon having a bore axis and a rope actuated cocking and charging mechanism having a rope end exiting from the weapon. The device includes a first rotatable pulley having an axis of rotation fixedly connected to the mount and positioned adjacent to and below an exit point of the rope from the weapon positioned in the mount, a second rotatable pulley having an axis of rotation fixedly connected to the weapon mount and positioned below and spaced from the first pulley, and a linearly moveable actuator arm having a longitudinal axis situated substantially in a plane and substantially parallel to the bore axis, the actuator arm at an end thereof including a rope engagement element.

摘要: An automatic weapon includes a combination charging handle and bolt latch. A grip on a spindle of the handle is spring biased to be unlatched, and latchable by sliding movement toward the bolt receiver of the gun, where a latch member of the grip is wedged between bosses on the receiver. Slight rearward motion of the handle frees the latch member from the bosses, and the spring then swiftly unlatches the grip.

摘要: Two stage shell feeding apparatus for a reciprocating bolt-type automatic cannon or gun, comprises a first stage shell rotor, having a plurality of shell cavities, rotatably mounted between a shell supply and a cannon shell pick up position, such that when a shell in one of the rotor cavities is in the shell pick up position, an empty rotor cavity is in shell receiving relationship with the shell supply. After firing of the cannon and while the bolt is recoiling rearwardly, barrel gas operated actuating means cause rapid partial rotation of the rotor to index a rotor carried shell into the pick up position. A spring actuated, second stage shell advancing slide is simultaneously cocked to enable subsequent spring powered transferring of a free shell from the shell supply into the aligned rotor cavity during the remainder of the firing cycle. Shell accelerator means are provided to cause shell acceleration before bolt pick up impact. Configuration of the rotor cavities, a pair of feed lip members adjacent the shell pick up position and shell deflector means control movement of shells from the pick up position into a cannon firing chamber.

摘要: The invention is an improved apparatus for charging a weapon-type mechanismhile applying only approximately one-half the force required to move the mechanism forward. The apparatus consists of a charger assembly having a spring which is extended by an initial force applied to the charger assembly in a rearward direction and to a position where the charger assembly is latched to the barrel assembly of the weapon-type mechanism. At this position, a compression spring in the barrel assembly is fully extended.The barrel assembly and the charger assembly latched to it are then moved forward to compress the spring in the barrel assembly. As the forward position of the combined barrel assembly and charger assembly is reached, the spring in the barrel assembly being essentially fully compressed, the barrel assembly is latched in place at this position as the charger assembly is delatched from the barrel assembly. The force to compress the spring in the barrel assembly is approximately twice the aforesaid initial force applied to the charger assembly.
