    摘要: An optical storage medium recording apparatus is provided a data preparing and ECC encoding circuit that both prepares the data by combining different categories of data into data sequences in accordance with a data layout on the optical storage medium and encodes the combined data. The encoded data is temporarily stored in a data buffer, and subsequently successively read out by a recording circuit for recording onto the optical storage medium according to the data layout. For a Blu-ray disc recording apparatus, the data preparing and ECC encoding circuit includes a LDC/BIS encoder for generating long distance error correction codes (LDC) and burst indicator subcodes (BIS) from the combined data to form LDC and BIS encoded data, which is temporarily stored in the data buffer. The recording circuit includes an interleave circuit for interleaving the LDC and BIS data to form physical clusters for recording on the disc.

The data generation section generates the addresses and the sets of first parity symbols, required to generate the columns of data units included in the block, based on the initial address and the flag bytes, selects necessary portions from the flag bytes and the addresses and the sets of first parity symbols generated, and outputs the portions to the parity generation section, as the columns of data units included in the block.

    摘要: A decoding apparatus for a high-density recording medium includes a demodulator, a long-distance code (LDC) processing module, a burst indicator subcode (BIS) processing module, an erasure code generator, and a decoder. The demodulator demodulates data from a high-density recording medium to obtain a demodulated data and a demodulation error flag. The LDC processing module and the BIS processing module deinterleave the demodulated data to respectively obtain an LDC data and a BIS data. The erasure code generator sets an erasure flag corresponding to the LDC data according to the demodulation error flag and the BIS error flag. The decoder decodes the LDC data according to the erasure flag. Further, the decoder decodes the BIS data to obtain the BIS error flag.

    摘要: The invention provides for an optical disc encoding and decoding system in which in an encode mode the system is arranged to encode Long Distance Code (LDC) clusters from user data and including error correction means for applying error correction to LDC blocks, and interleaving means arranged to form the LDC clusters by interleaving the LDC blocks, wherein the error correction means comprises a plurality of buffers at least one of which is arranged to retrieve data from a SDRAM of the system and to calculate syndromes and at least another of which is arranged to insert parity bytes in the data prior to return to the SDRAM and wherein while the said another of which buffers stores data and calculates syndromes, the said one of which buffers is arranged to insert parity bytes into the data it previously stored, the interleaving means comprising a plurality of buffers arranged for burst access for retrieving data from the SDRAM of the system.
