    Abstract: A device for automatically milking an animal. The device is provided with at least two teat cups to be connected to respective teats of the animal. The milking vacuum unit generates a milking vacuum in the teat cups, which milking vacuum unit comprises at least two vacuum lines that are each connectable to a respective teat cup. The milking vacuum unit comprises a common vacuum pump and a common buffer vessel to which vacuum can be applied by use of the common vacuum pump. All vacuum lines are connectable to the common buffer vessel. An individual buffer vessel is provided in each vacuum line and is disposed between the common buffer vessel and the respective teat cup. An individual buffer vessel is provided with a respective individual vacuum pump for applying vacuum to the individual buffer vessel.

    Abstract: A milking parlor has a platform receiving cows and having a plurality of spaced stall dividers defining milking stalls therebetween, each stall divider having a milking cluster including a claw and teat cups.     Abstract: A milking apparatus for laboratory animals enables a milking operation to be performed on a laboratory animal (such as a rat) by a single experimenter, and also enables universal milking data to be obtained that is not influenced by individual difference among experimenters. A teat cup enables milking to be performed directly from the nipple of a relatively small and prolific laboratory animal such as a rat and mouse. The invention provides useful means for clarifying the influence of harmful extrinsic substances on living organisms via milk. The apparatus comprises a milk-collecting container 10 whose inside can be kept blocked from the outside air, two, i.e., a first and second, tubes 12, 13 inserted into the milk-collecting container in a communicated manner, and a teat cup 20 replaceably mounted on the other end of the first tube 12. The other end of the second tube 13 is provided with a pressure switching means such as electromagnetic valves 33A and 33B that can switch the state inside the second tube 13 between a state where the inside is connected to the negative pressure creating source 35 and another state where it is opened to the atmosphere.

    Abstract: A milking inflation fits over the upper end of a teat cup shell, with a peripheral shoulder and cuff adapted to surround and sealingly engage the upper rim of the shell. A substantially flat, relatively thin section (mouthpiece) extends radially inwardly from the shoulder and toward a center portion which defines a circular central opening or mouth for receiving a teat of a lactating animal. A plurality of geometrically-shaped indentations are aligned in a circumferentially extending pattern around the mouth. The indentations are formed integrally in a broad surface of the mouthpiece and extend radially inwardly from the shoulder and cuff toward the center portion and central opening. The inward tips of the geometrical indentations leave a substantially raised portion around the center opening, and due to the alignment of the geometrical indentations there is an immediate raised portion around the central opening of the mouthpiece. The indentations provide improved flexibility for the mouthpiece which allows the mouthpiece to better adapt to various sizes of animal's teats. The immediate portion around the opening, with its raised portion, provides increased integrity and stability during the use of the milking inflation.

The conduit system has a first portion upstream of the pulsator and applying vacuum from the source of vacuum to the pulsator. The vacuum in the upstream portion of the conduit system is subject to fluctuation due to pulsation vacuum in the downstream portion.
