    摘要: A composite leaf spring formed of two superimposed spring leaves. One of the spring leaves is a tensile member and the other is a compressive member. The tensile member is an elongate leaf formed of a flexible nonextensible material such as metal, fiberglass, fabric, etc. and the compressive member is an elastomer leaf adhered, preferably by bonding, in contiguous superimposed relation to the nonextensible leaf. The neutral axis in flexure of the composite leaf spring is preferably located either at the interface of the nonextensible and elastomer leaf or in the nonextensible leaf whereby upon flexure, only compressive stresses are introduced into the elastomer leaf.

    摘要: A suspension system suitable for a trailer incorporates a device for limiting rotation of an axle received in an eye of a leaf spring. The leaf spring has a wrapped end defining the eye extending transverse to the leaf spring with a gap left between the leaf spring and the wrapped end thereof. The rotation limiting device is fixed to the axle and features a sleeve having a peripheral wall extending circumferentially about the axle inside the eye of the leaf spring and a tab projecting outward from the peripheral wall of the sleeve and extending in a direction parallel to the axis. The tab projects into the gap left between the leaf spring and the wrapped end thereof to block rotation of the axle and sleeve relative to the wrapped end of the leaf spring. Friction fit, adhesive, welding or multi-piece hardware fixing of the spring is avoided.

    摘要: An anti-friction pad for a bushed pivot connection of a main leaf spring and a secondary leaf spring of a spring mounted air spring suspension of a vehicle. The pivot connection includes a bushing, a main leaf spring having an eye receiving the bushing and a secondary leaf spring having an eye receiving the eye of the main leaf spring and the inside surfaces of bushing hanger bracket. The anti-friction pad has an elongated main body portion positioned between and in contact with the main leaf spring and the secondary leaf spring. The anti-friction pad also has side walls which engage the secondary leaf spring. The anti-friction pad has a center post which seats in a socket of the secondary leaf spring. The main body portion of the pad has an outer convex surface which mates with a concave face of the main leaf spring. The anti-friction pad is formed of an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene.

    摘要: An improved axle clamp is required, particularly for use with composite material leaf springs, to securely fix the position of the leaf spring relative to the axle or other wheel carrying member such as in the suspension system of an automotive vehicle. The present invention provides an axle clamp comprising a clamp base (1) and a wedge insert (2). The clamp base provides a platform portion (3) and substantially parallel side walls (4A, 4B) extending from the platform portion to form a channel adapted to receive the wedge insert. The inner surface of at least one side wall of the clamp base provides a channel-widening concavity (5A, 5B). The wedge insert has a platform portion (7) and substantially parallel side walls (9A, 9B) extending from the platform portion forming an inner channel adapted to jacket a mid-portion of the leaf spring (10). The outer surface of at least one side wall of the wedge insert provides a convexity adapted to engage and substantially fill the channel-widening concavity of the clamp base. According to one embodiment, an axle clamp assembly comprises the clamp base and wedge insert and further comprises a clamp plate (12) positioned over the leaf spring opposite the clamp base and adapted to be attached thereto to hold the leaf spring securely between them. Optionally, a resilient pad (11) is provided mediate the leaf spring and the clamp plate.
