    摘要: The present disclosure provides a method for selecting a plant comprising a functional restorer gene for maize S-type cytoplasmic male sterility comprising the steps of (a) screening a population of plants for at least one marker nucleic acid, wherein the marker nucleic acid comprises an allele linked to the functional restorer gene for maize S-type cytoplasmic male sterility; (b) detecting the marker nucleic acid; (c) identifying a plant comprising the marker nucleic acid; and (d) selecting the plant comprising the marker nucleic acid, wherein the plant comprising the marker nucleic acid further comprises the functional restorer gene for maize S-type cytoplasmic male sterility. The present disclosure also provides methods for restoring fertility in a progeny of an S-type cytoplasmic male sterile plant and methods for transferring an Rf3 gene into a progeny plant.

    摘要: Methods and hybrid seed are provided which involve growing two varieties of a field crop which is at least partially cross-pollinated in the field, wherein the two varieties are fertile with respect to both male and female functions, are selected to yield specified hybrid(s), and are distinguishable with respect to seed characteristic(s). Collected seeds from the grown field crop are separated into fractions with respect to the seed characteristic, wherein at least one fraction is of hybrid seeds of the specified hybrid(s). For example, the parent varieties may be selected to yield heterotic hybrid(s) which are distinct and separable from the parent non-hybrid seeds with respect to the at least one seed characteristic, e.g., have larger or smaller seeds. Possibly, different traits may be used to separate the hybrid seeds from the two parent variety seeds, such as size, weight or optical parameters that enable sorting out the hybrids from the overall crop.

    摘要: The disclosure provides an aseptic sowing and raising seedling method for distant hybridization seeds of Phalaenopsis and Rhynchostylis retusa, which takes Phalaenopsis as female parent and Rhynchostylis retusa as male parent to obtain hybridization fruit pods by artificial pollination, the fruit pods are pretreated, and the seeds are aseptically sowed, germinated, protocorm proliferated and differentiated, strong seedlings rooted, acclimatized and transplanted to obtain distant hybridization offspring groups. The disclosure has the advantages of high seed germination rate, large seedling number, short seedling time and good seedling quality, which solves the problems that the seeds of Phalaenopsis distant hybridization process are difficult to succeed due to affinity, and are extremely difficult to germinate and raise seedlings under natural conditions. Therefore, a large number of seedlings can be obtained in a short period by aseptic sowing and artificial propagation, which lays a foundation for breeding excellent varieties of Phalaenopsis distant hybridization.
