Abstract:
A computer-executable method receives at least one query that specifies requests involving blocks of data. Based on information associated with at least one query, a sequence is identified relating to an order in which the blocks are to be retrieved into a storage for processing the requests. An output is provided for the at least one query based on retrieving the blocks into the storage according to the identified sequence. According to another implementation, a method includes caching blocks of data associated with processing a database query in a temporary storage, and replacing at least some of the blocks of data in the temporary storage using a first replacement algorithm this is based on information associated with processing the database query, and where the first algorithm is different from a second replacement algorithm used by an operating system of the database system.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for electrochemically determining an analyte concentration value in a physiological sample are disclosed. The methods include using a test strip in which two time-current transients are measured by a meter electrically connected to an electrochemical test strip. Integrative current values are derived from the time-current transients and used in the calculation of analyte concentration.
Abstract:
A method and system for integrating multiple factors into a unified optimization model for retail network configuration, in one aspect, obtains input data for modeling store configuration. The input data may include demand of each merchandise category from each customer segment in each facility, geographic distribution of stores in an area, current revenue of stores, and physical cost of reconfiguring stores. A trade area is generated as a function of store location, store format, and store capacity. The method and system also generates trade area demand summation representing predicted total demand of all stores for all merchandise categories for all customer segments in the trade area, as a function of store location, store format, store capacity, merchandise category, and customer segment associated with the trade area. An objective function is constructed as a function of said trade area demand summation, current revenue of stores, and physical cost of reconfiguring stores.
Abstract:
Method, apparatus and system for location evaluation and site selection, capable of effectively configuring the site network and evaluating the facility location by scientifically modeling and incorporating human knowledge are provided. In one aspect, geographic and demographic data associated with a plurality of locations and human knowledge comprising partial rating knowledge and pair-wise preference knowledge are used in a regression algorithm to construct a location evaluation model. The regression algorithm is further refined using active learning that identifies a plurality of pairs of locations to improve precision of the regression algorithm.
Abstract:
A computer based method of biometric analysis which compares a first vector from a first biometric sample with a second vector from a second biometric sample. The vectors have at least one biometric feature. A method which compares two biometric samples. The samples form at least one cluster of at least one vector based on feature similarities between the samples. An apparatus incorporating a means for performing the method taught herein. A computer-readable medium and a propagated computer data signal transmitted via a propagation medium, with instructions which when executed by a processor, carry out the method of the present invention. A method of handwriting analysis which calculates a first metric from a first vector having at least one feature from a sample, calculates a second metric from a second vector having at least one feature from a second sample, and calculates the distance in two-dimensional feature space between metrics.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for checking the correctness of GIS data. The method includes the steps of: receiving GIS data; receiving business data of each branch; determining the geographic area to which each branch belongs, wherein the GIS data in the geographic area will be checked; and, checking whether the GIS data of the geographic area to which each branch belongs are correct based on the business data of each branch. The method and apparatus can automatically check geographic and demographic data of a given city or region.
Abstract:
A power supply generates a supply voltage that varies from a first voltage level to a second voltage level. A first current source is coupled to the power supply and generates a current that varies due to channel-length modulation. A channel-length modulation (CLM) compensation mechanism is provided to reduce the current variation of the first current source by compensating the channel-length modulation (CLM) of the first current source.
Abstract:
Certain exemplary embodiments comprise a method, which can comprise configuring a system to compare an electrical value and a selected pre-stored threshold value of a plurality of pre-stored threshold values. The method can comprise configuring the system to modify the plurality of pre-stored threshold values based upon a predetermined change in measured temperature.
Abstract:
Certain exemplary embodiments comprise a system that comprises an application specific integrated circuit configured to provide an output signal. The output signal can be configured to trip a device in an electrical circuit responsive to a detected fault. The application specific integrated circuit can comprise a temperature sensor. The application specific integrated circuit can be configured to correct at least one measured electrical value responsive to a temperature measured by the temperature sensor.
