Abstract: This disclosure includes negative pressure wound therapy dressings with local oxygen generation for topical wound therapy. The dressings (18) for facilitating delivery of oxygen and application of negative pressure to target tissue include a manifold (46) that defines a plurality of gas passageways (50) and is configured to allow communication of oxygen to the target tissue; an oxygen-generating material (146) that is configured to release oxygen when exposed to water; a gas-occlusive layer (74) configured to be disposed over the manifold and the oxygen-generating material and coupled to tissue surrounding the target tissue such that an interior volume containing the manifold and the oxygen-generating material is defined between the gas-occlusive layer and the target tissue; and a port (94) coupled to the gas-occlusive layer and configured to be coupled to a negative pressure source.

Abstract: Dressings for treating a tissue site with negative pressure are disclosed, which may include a dressing having at least three layers assembled in a stacked relationship. In one example embodiment, a first film may comprise a non-porous material and a plurality of fluid restrictions. A first manifold layer may be adjacent to the first film and may comprise a second film of a transparent material having blisters and a manifold area. The first manifold layer may further comprise apertures configured to allow fluid transfer through the second film. A second manifold layer may be adjacent to the first manifold layer and may comprise foam having a contact area that is less than the manifold area of the first manifold layer.

Abstract: Apparatuses for multi-orientation fluid management are described. In some example embodiments, an apparatus for managing fluids may comprise an absorbent core and one or more layers of a fluid acquisition and manifolding material. The fluid acquisition and manifolding material can provide a shell or envelope for capturing the fluid and distributing it to the absorbent core for storage. The manifolding material can distribute fluid as the absorbent core swells. The apparatus may additionally include an exudate container providing a casing for the absorbent core and the fluid acquisition and manifolding layers.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses are presented that facilitate the provision of reduced pressure to a tissue site by using a delivery-and-fluid-storage bridge, which separates liquids and gases and provides a flow path for reduced pressure. In one instance, a delivery-and-fluid-storage bridge includes a delivery manifold for delivering reduced pressure to a treatment manifold at the tissue site and an absorbent layer proximate the delivery manifold adapted to receive and absorb liquids. The delivery manifold and the absorbent layer are encapsulated in an encapsulating pouch. A first aperture is formed proximate a first longitudinal end of the delivery-and-fluid-storage bridge for fluidly communicating reduced pressure to the delivery manifold from a reduced-pressure source, and a second aperture is formed on a patient-facing side of the delivery-and-fluid-storage bridge. Reduced pressure is transferred to the tissue site via the second aperture. Other systems, apparatuses, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: In one example embodiment, a system for treating a tissue site is disclosed that may comprise a manifold including a non-porous film having a plurality of closed cells defined by a sealed region perforated with apertures extending through the sealed region, wherein the manifold is adapted to contact the tissue site. The system may further comprise a cover adapted to provide a fluid seal between a therapeutic environment including the manifold proximate one side of the cover and a local external environment on the other side of the cover. In one embodiment, the plurality of closed cells is adapted to form distal channels with the cover and the apertures are adapted to provide fluid communication between the distal channels and the tissue site. The system may further comprise a negative-pressure source fluidly coupled to the therapeutic environment and adapted to provide negative pressure through the distal channels and the apertures to the tissue site. In another example embodiment, a method for treating a tissue site is disclosed comprising positioning a manifold including a non-porous film having a plurality of closed cells defined by a sealed region perforated with apertures extending through the seals to contact the tissue site. The method may further comprise covering the manifold and the tissue site with a drape to provide a fluid seal between a therapeutic environment including the manifold proximate one side of the drape and a local external environment the other side of the drape. The method may further comprise providing negative pressure from a negative-pressure source coupled to the therapeutic environment wherein the negative pressure is applied through the distal channels and the apertures to the tissue site.
