Abstract: The present invention is a computer controlled display device. In one embodiment, the display device includes a flat panel display having an input for receiving display data. Additionally, a moveable assembly may be coupled to the display. The moveable assembly may provide at least three degrees of freedom of movement for the flat panel display device. Additionally, the moveable assembly may have a cross-sectional area, which is substantially less than a cross-sectional area of a display structure of the flat panel display. Additionally, the moveable assembly may include a plurality of stacked ball-and-socket assemblies.

Abstract: A new and improved status LED indicator provides a pleasing visual appeal. An embodiment of the present invention includes a sleep-mode indicator for laptop computers. The LED indicator is energized by pulse-width modulated electrical pulses. The effect of these pulses on the indicator varies in intensity and mimics a rhythm typical of breathing. It is another aspect of the invention to provide an electrical apparatus that generates a sleep-mode indicator blinking pattern based on a sinusoidal function using PWM (pulse width modulation) designs.

Abstract: Techniques for protecting and managing cables during storage and use are described. The apparatus of the invention is an integration of two functional components that are used with cables of all types. First is a protective component that protects the ends of cables, which are referred to as connectors. These connectors can be plugged into devices such as computers and peripheral devices such that the respective components can be interconnected. The second component is a cable management component, which is used to manage the length of the cable. A very common example of the second component and its use is a cable clip that secures a cable that is wound up in a coil. In a general sense, the invention is the combination of the protective component and the cable management component into a single apparatus.
