Abstract: A method includes forming a fluid conduit inside a heat shield in an additive manufacturing process, wherein a fluid nozzle is defined at a downstream end of the fluid conduit, and wherein the heat shield is formed about the fluid nozzle. The method includes removing powder from an interior passage of the fluid conduit and fluid nozzle and from an insulation gap defined between the heat shield and the fluid conduit and fluid nozzle. The method includes separating the heat shield, fluid conduit, and fluid nozzle from the build platform. The method includes shifting the fluid conduit and fluid nozzle to a shifted position relative to the heat shield, and securing the fluid conduit and fluid nozzle to the heat shield in the shifted position.

Abstract: A fuel stabilization system for removing oxygen from fuel includes an accumulator disposed along a fuel line, the accumulator includes a fuel inlet and a fuel outlet and a heat source disposed in thermal communication with the fuel in or upstream of the fuel inlet of the accumulator to increase the temperature of the fuel within the accumulator. The accumulator is configured to allow oxygen deposits to form therein as a result of the temperature increase of the fuel.

Abstract: An electrostatic discharge machining fixture includes a fixture body, two or more electrically conductive face contacts seated in the fixture body, and two or more electrically resistive point contacts seated in the fixture body. The electrically conductive face contacts and the electrically resistive point contacts define a 3-2-1 alignment system to locate an additively manufactured article relative to the fixture body during an electrostatic discharge machining operation. Electrostatic discharge machining arrangements and methods of supporting additively manufactured workpieces during electrostatic discharge machining operations are also described.

Abstract: A nozzle includes a nozzle body defining a liquid circuit extending from a liquid inlet to a liquid outlet. The liquid circuit includes a plurality of spiral liquid passages spiraling radially inward relative to a spray axis. The spiral liquid passages all lie in a plane normal to the spray axis. A manifold assembly includes a plurality of such nozzles. A manifold ring is in fluid communication with the liquid inlet of each of the nozzles to deliver liquid to the nozzles. The nozzles are circumferentially spaced apart around the manifold ring.

Abstract: A method of cooling a component during laser cladding can include attaching a flow adapter to the component, flowing cooling fluid through the flow adapter, flowing the cooling fluid through the component during laser cladding. Attaching a flow adapter to the component can fluidly communicate at least one adapter channel to one or more component channels, and flowing cooling fluid through the at least one adapter channel can pass cooling fluid through the one or more component channels to cool the component during laser cladding. The method can include laser cladding the component.
