Abstract: A method for playing video ringtones on a communication device of a user includes a downloadable application on the communication device receiving a video ringtone to be associated with a buddy of the user, the communication device receiving a call-related triggering event related to the buddy and in response to the call-related triggering event, the communication device playing the video ringtone. A further method includes the communication device receiving a call-related triggering event related to a buddy of the user; and in response to the call-related triggering event, the communication device activating a functionality of the communication device.
