摘要： Embodiments of a system and method for communicating over an extended range in a wireless network are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed. In some embodiments, a packet is generated to include an extended range header if the mobile station is identified as an extended range mobile station. The extended range header and a data portion of the packet have a lower data rate than packets for regular range mobile stations and are encoded to correspond to rates for un-encoded transmissions to the regular range mobile stations.
