Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for implanting an intraocular lens into an eye are described. For example, an intraocular lens injector may include a passage formed in a distal end portion of the intraocular lens injector. The passage may define an interior surface, and a ramp may be formed on the interior surface so as to cause a leading haptic of an intraocular lens (IOL) being advanced through the passage to lift above a surface of an optic of the IOL to ensure proper folding of the IOL.

Abstract: An apparatus for eye surgery may comprise a nozzle having a delivery lumen, an implant bay coupled to the nozzle, and an implant disposed in the implant bay. The implant may comprise an optic body, a leading haptic, and a trailing haptic. In some examples, the implant may be an intraocular lens. The apparatus may further comprise an actuator comprising a housing and a plunger disposed within the housing and a leading splay arm operable to splay the leading haptic within the implant bay. The plunger can be operable to advance the optic body from the implant bay to the delivery lumen after the leading splay arm straightens the leading haptic.

In particular implementations, a system and a technique for inserting an intraocular lens may include the ability to move, in response to a force being applied in a first direction along a longitudinal axis, a first plunger tip along the longitudinal axis and into a delivery cartridge to fold an intraocular lens and move in a second direction along the longitudinal axis in response to the applied force being reduced. The system and the technique may also include the ability to engage a second plunger tip and move, in response to a force being applied in the first direction along the longitudinal axis, the second plunger tip along the longitudinal axis and into the delivery cartridge to insert the intraocular lens.
