Abstract: A sliding mechanism for extending and retracting a slide-out compartment comprising a guide member having two securing flanges separated by a gap that communicates with an interior channel. A slider rail is disposed within the interior channel and has a middle portion adapted with a plurality of holes formed therein. Extending from the middle portion are two securing members that cooperate with the securing flanges of the guide member to maintain slider rail within the interior channel as middle portion extends into the gap. Disposed within the interior channel at one end of the guide element is a gear mechanism. The gear mechanism includes a gear shaft and a gear attached to the gear shaft. The gear mechanism drivingly engages a plurality of teeth on the gear within the plurality of holes in the middle portion of the slider rail to extend or retract the slide-out compartment. A timing assembly is attached to the gear shaft to allow two or more gear shafts to be timed relative to one another. Attached to the second end of the gear shaft is a manual activation assembly, such as a hand crank. Alternatively, a motorized activation assembly may be attached to gear shaft. One embodiment of the motorized activation assembly includes a quick-release arrangement that allows a motor to be quickly and easily released from the gear shaft or a motorized activation assembly.

Abstract: A novel mechanical camper jack for mounting on a camper body is disclosed. The jack has an outer jack housing, which mounts to the camper body, and is slidably telescoped over a jack leg. Extension and retraction of the camper jack leg is accomplished with rotation of a lead screw that is threaded through a plastic nut mounted within the jack leg. Rotation of the lead screw is effected by the operation of a right-angled gear assembly, disposed within the jack housing. The gear assembly is operated with a hand crank, which is detachably mounted to the jack via a socket assembly. In one embodiment, the hand crank is provided with a ratchet and paul mechanism. The socket is implemented so that the coupling between the hand crank and the gear assembly occurs completely within the jack housing. In this way, the socket extends through the wall of the jack housing in a manner so as to be substantially flush with the exterior surface of the jack housing. In a preferred embodiment, the plastic nut is used in combination with a steel safety nut and a plastic wear guide.

Abstract: A mounting assembly for mounting a camper jack onto a camper body. A novel mounting bracket is used to mount a camper jack onto a camper body in a clean, attractive, and unobtrusive manner. The mounting bracket is formed of three integral flat portions, a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion. The three integral portions are formed into a generally z-shaped configuration wherein the second portion forms the middle of the mounting bracket, and the first and third portions extend perpendicularly from opposite ends of the second portion and in opposite directions from each other. When the mounting bracket is attached to the camper body, the first and second portions conform to the shape of a corner edge of the camper body. The third portion projects outwardly from the camper body. Once the mounting bracket is securely attached to the camper body, a camper jack can be conveniently positioned between the third portion and the second portion of the mounting bracket. The camper jack can be securely attached to the third portion of the mounting bracket by a carriage bolt. Mounted in this fashion, most of the mounting bracket is hidden by the camper jack.

Abstract: Disclosed is a recumbent bicycle having a frame with at least one tubular member having a lumen. Mounted to the frame are a rear wheel assembly and a transmission assembly. The transmission assembly can include a first gear, a second gear, and a chain that extends from the first gear to the second gear and through the lumen of the at least one tubular member. Pedals and crank arms can mount to the second gear, which is slidable relative to the first gear to vary the position of the second gear relative to a seat mounted to the frame. A suspension assembly can mount a pair of front wheels to the frame at a location intermediate of the first portion and the second portion of the frame. The bicycle enables riders of different leg lengths to use the recumbent bicycle, while the suspension assembly cushions the rider during use.
