摘要:
Golf balls having a core including a material formed from polybutadiene, a crosslinking agent, and a free-radical initiator, and a cover having a plurality of dimples disposed about the core, wherein the material includes at least about 80 percent trans-isomer polybutadiene and no more than about 10 percent vinyl-configuration polybutadiene and wherein the material has an absolute molecular weight of at least about 100,000. In another embodiment, the vinyl-configuration polybutadiene is present in no more than about 15 percent and the absolute molecular weight is at least about 200,000. Methods of preparing such golf balls are also recited.
摘要:
A simplified method of matching a golfer to a golf club and a golf ball by measuring the golfer's club head speed and comparing that measured value to recorded sets of data which correlates a few key variables that can accurately match the golfer with the most suitable golf club and golf ball designed to achieve optimum driving performance.
摘要:
A golf ball having an outside surface with a plurality of dimples formed thereon. The dimples on the ball have a cross-sectional profiles formed by a catenary curve. Shape constants in the catenary curve are used to vary the ball flight performance according to ball spin characteristics and player swing speed.
摘要:
A low compression, resilient golf ball having a center including a material formed from the conversion reaction of sufficient amounts of polybutadiene, a free radical source, and a cis-to-trans catalyst to convert a portion of cis-isomer to trans-isomer in the polybutadiene, which reaction occurs at a sufficient temperature to form the material that contains trans-isomer and cis-isomer, wherein said material has an amount of trans-isomer greater than the amount of trans-isomer present before the conversion reaction, at least one intermediate layer disposed about the center and including a resilient polymer component and a reinforcing polymer component present in an amount sufficient to provide an uncrosslinked first mixture having a rigidity as determined by a flexural modulus greater than about 3.5 MPa, wherein the center and each intermediate layer together form the core, and a cover being disposed about the core, wherein the golf ball has a diameter of at least about 1.68 inches. In particular, the cis-to-trans catalyst includes an organosulfur compound, a Group VIA component, an inorganic sulfide, or a combination thereof, and the reinforcing polymer includes trans-polyisoprene. The invention also relates to golf balls formed from a conversion between various combinations of polybutadiene, cis-to-trans catalyst, free radical source, and optional filler and/or crosslinking agent, to produce a desired golf ball or golf ball component, such as those that are resilient (fast) and have low compression (soft).
摘要:
Golf balls including centers formed from polybutadiene reaction products having a percent change in dynamic stiffness from 0° C. to −50° C. of less than 130 percent where the reaction products include a resilient polymer component, a crosslinking material, a cis-to-trans catalyst, and a free radical source. The golf balls may be formed with polyurethane covers, covers formed from castable reactive liquid materials, among other materials. The golf balls may also include an intermediate layer.
摘要:
A golf ball with a layer formed of a composite material is disclosed. The composite layer can be the outermost cover layer, an intermediate layer, or a layer of a center of the ball. The composite layer includes a filament material embedded in a matrix material. The filament material is selected such that it can sustain sufficient deformation at impact and remain elastic, i.e. essentially deforming with as little energy loss as possible. As a result, the composite cover layer contributes significantly to the resiliency of the ball and acts as a hoop-stress layer.
