    摘要: The present invention provides an image display device that is capable of reducing the power consumption. The total power consumption of a level shifter is reduced by using a pulse of an oscillator circuit as an enable signal of a level shifter for amplifying the enable signal to be supplied to a group of level shifters. The image display device includes an oscillator circuit, a first level shifter, and a plurality of second level shifters, which are mounted on a substrate and formed with thin-film transistors. The plurality of second level shifters each has a shutdown function for reducing the power consumption of the level shifters. The shutdown function of the first level shifter is controlled by an output pulse of the oscillator circuit. The shutdown function of the group of second level shifters is controlled by an output pulse of the first level shifter.

    摘要: The present invention provides an image display device that is capable of reducing the power consumption. The total power consumption of a level shifter is reduced by using a pulse of an oscillator circuit as an enable signal of a level shifter for amplifying the enable signal to be supplied to a group of level shifters. The image display device includes an oscillator circuit, a first level shifter, and a plurality of second level shifters, which are mounted on a substrate and formed with thin-film transistors. The plurality of second level shifters each has a shutdown function for reducing the power consumption of the level shifters. The shutdown function of the first level shifter is controlled by an output pulse of the oscillator circuit. The shutdown function of the group of second level shifters is controlled by an output pulse of the first level shifter.

    摘要: In the display device which is used in a miniaturized portable equipment, when a drive circuit is also connected on the same substrate as pixels, an input signal of low voltage has a level thereof shifted even when the threshold value is large or fluctuated. The display device includes pixel electrodes, switching elements which supply video signals to the pixel electrodes, and a drive circuit which supplies the video signals to the switching elements on the same substrate, wherein the drive circuit includes a level shift circuit, the level shift circuit includes a transistor. In a state that the transistor assumes an ON state, when an input signal is inputted to a source terminal and the input signal is at a low voltage level, a drain terminal assumes a low voltage level. Further, even when the input signal is at a high voltage level equal to or lower than a threshold value, the drain terminal outputs a voltage equal to or more than the threshold value as a high level voltage.

In a display device which includes a display panel having a plurality of display pixels, video lines which apply video data to the display pixels and scanning lines which apply a scanning voltage to the display pixels, the display pixel includes: a capacitive element which holds a voltage corresponding to a value of the video data; a pixel electrode; a first transistor of a first conductive type which is connected between a first power source line and the pixel electrode and, at the same time, has a control electrode to which the voltage held in the capacitive element is applied; and a second transistor of a second conductive type different from the first conductive type which is connected between a second power source line and the pixel electrode and, at the same time, has a control electrode to which the voltage held in the capacitive element is applied. Here, a first voltage is supplied to the first power source line, and a second voltage is supplied to the second power source line. The second voltage is a voltage which is obtained by inverting the first voltage.

    摘要: The present invention realizes a liquid crystal display device which can be driven with a low voltage while preventing the degradation of liquid crystal by reducing a residual charge of a pixel electrode even when a drive circuit is abnormally stopped. As a field effect transistor which is formed on a pixel, a field effect transistor in a depletion mode which is turned on in a state that an OFF signal is not applied to a gate terminal of the transistor is used. A substrate voltage supply line which supplies a substrate voltage to pixel regions is provided, and the substrate voltage is supplied via a through hole formed in the pixel portion thus controlling an optimum threshold value in response to an input signal. Wiring is made in a peripheral portion of a display region such that video signal lines and the substrate voltage supply line intersect each other.

    摘要: Eliminating differences in cell gap of a liquid crystal panel is effected to prevent display irregularities while avoiding contamination of the liquid crystal material due to unwanted contact of a seal material with the liquid crystal material. To this end, the liquid crystal panel includes a first substrate DSUB having multiple pixel electrodes AL-P in the form of a matrix, a second substrate USUB opposing the first substrate with a specified gap therebetween and having one or more transparent electrodes ITO-C, a liquid crystal layer LC made of a liquid crystal material sealed in the gap between the opposing substrates, and an alignment film on at least one of inner surfaces of the first and second substrates in contact with the liquid crystal layer for controlling alignment of the liquid crystal material. A plurality of pole-like spacers SPC-P are provided in a display area of the first substrate DSUB for retaining the gap between the first and second substrates DSUB, USUB at a predefined value while providing a band or strip-like spacer SPC-S that is made of the same material as that of the pole-like spacers and is formed to surround the display area and also has a width greater than the diameter of the pole spacers along with a sealing material SL filled along the outer edges of the strip spacer SPC-S for allowing the first substrate DSUB and the second substrate USUB to be tightly bonded together.

The pair of latches of each of the bidirectional shift register stages except those located at both ends of the series connection have respective intermediate and bidirectional shift register stage outputs contributing to designation of pixels to which pixel signals are to be supplied, while the pair of latches of the shift register stages located at each end of the series connection have their bidirectional shift register stage outputs contributing to such designation of pixels and their intermediate output terminals not contributing to such designation of pixels.
