Abstract: A method for tracking an interventional medical device in a patient includes interleaving, by an imaging probe external to the patient, a pulse sequence of imaging beams and tracking beams to obtain an interleaved pulse sequence. The method also includes transmitting, from the imaging probe to the interventional medical device in the patient, the interleaved pulse sequence. The method further includes determining, based on a response to the tracking beams received from a sensor on the interventional medical device, a location of the sensor in the patient.

Abstract: An end effector state estimation system for use in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) applications performs sensing and prediction algorithms to determine and visualize the state of an implantable therapeutic device during deployment. The end effector state estimation system includes a flexible elongate member, a therapeutic device coupled to a distal portion of the flexible elongate member, a sensor that measures at least one parameter related to the deployment state of the therapeutic device, and a processor. The processor receives image data from an imaging system representative of the therapeutic device positioned within the body cavity of the patient and the at least one parameter from the sensor, determines the deployment state of the therapeutic device based on the image data and the at least one parameter, outputs a graphical representation of the deployment state of the therapeutic device.

Abstract: An ultrasound imaging system according to the present disclosure may include an ultrasound transducer assembly comprising a plurality of apertures that are configured to transmit signals toward and receive signals from a region of interest (ROI) of a subject, a tracking sensor disposed within the subject and configured to move within the ROI, the sensor being responsive to signals transmitted by the apertures, and at least one processor in communication with the ultrasound transducer assembly and the tracking sensor. The at least one processor may be configured to generate a first image of a first portion of the ROI from signals received from at least one activated aperture, identify a position of the tracking sensor using signal data from the tracking sensor that corresponds to at least one signal transmitted by the apertures, and generate a second image of a second portion of the ROI from signals received from at least one other aperture activated based on the identified position, wherein the second portion of the ROI is different from the first portion of the ROI.
