摘要： An image forming apparatus includes at least one image bearing member, a transport mechanism, a scale, and a scale reading mechanism. The at least one image bearing member is configured to bear a toner image on a surface thereof. The transport mechanism has inner and outer surfaces and transports the toner image. The outer surface is configured the toner image from the at least image bearing member. The scale includes a plurality of thin film marks arranged along the inner surface of the transport mechanism at predetermined intervals in a moving direction of the transport mechanism. The scale reading mechanism includes a magnetometric sensor to magnetometrically read the plurality of marks forming the scale.
