Abstract: A method and apparatus may include determining, by a network node, that a slave radio-resource-control function is to be initiated. The slave radio-resource-control function may be performed by an access point. The method may also include transmitting a message to the access point. The message includes at least one of a request to initiate the slave radio-resource-control function and a confirmation that the slave radio-resource-control function can be initiated.

Abstract: An example technique may include determining, by a first base station in a wireless network, a user device has transitioned from an active state to an idle state, determining, by the first base station, a list of base stations and a list of cells corresponding to the list of base stations representing a tracking area for the user device based on a signal received from at least one second base station, the signal received from the at least one second base station including an indication of an amount of activity on at least one boundary between the at least one second base station and a plurality of third base stations, and controlling sending, from the first base station to the user device, a signal including at least one of the list of base stations and the list of cells as a tracking area for the user device.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for controlling communication with a communication device connected to a plurality of access points are described. Predefined inactivity in communications between a first access point and the communication device may be determined at the first access point. An indication of predefined inactivity in communications between the communication device and a second access point may be provided by the second access point. Connectivity state of the communication device is only changed when said predefined inactivity in communications between the first access point and the communication device has been determined and said indication has been provided.
