Abstract:
The present invention is directed toward an attachment for a light fixture. More specifically, the present invention is directed toward an attachment for retaining one or more lenses in position for use with light fixtures that have a housing in which the light source is recessed. The lenses may be, for example, colorless transparent lenses, colored transparent lenses, colorless translucent lenses, colored translucent lenses, louvered grates, and diffusing grids. Further, the lenses may be made out of any material that is known in the art or has yet to be developed, but are preferably made of a rigid material such as plastic. The preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises generally an attachment body and an attachment insert. The attachment body comprises an inner sleeve, a means for retaining the inner sleeve on a recessed housing, an upper eave connected to the inner sleeve, a recessed cavity in the upper eave, and a means for securing the attachment insert to the attachment body. The attachment insert is designed to rest in the recessed cavity of the upper eave. The attachment body is adapted to have dimensions such that the inner sleeve fits inside the housing of a recessed light fixture. In addition, the inner sleeve and upper eave define voids and it is generally desirable for the inner sleeve, upper eave and voids to have dimensions such that light is permitted to pass there through. The attachment insert is removably connected to the attachment body and supports a lens. In the preferred embodiment, the attachment insert is constructed such that it retains one or more lenses substantially in the recessed cavity contained in the upper eave. The means for connecting the attachment insert to the attachment body in the preferred embodiment is a screw thread on an outer surface of the attachment insert that is compatible with a screw thread on an inner surface of the attachment body.
Abstract:
A multi-axis pivoting knuckle for a light fixture that allows for pivoting the light fixture about a horizontal axis and rotating the light fixture about a vertical axis. A single tightening bolt can secure movement of the light fixture in both axes. Tightening the bolt compresses a face plate that secures a brake pad against a toothed neck around the vertical axis of rotation. Tightening the same bolt also compresses a top stem against a base mount to engage annular geared teeth on each. A ground stake has a slotted neck port for receiving a base stem with lugs on the pivoting knuckle. A rotating collar on the neck port can selectively block the slots on the neck port. A wire slot is provided through the ground stake, neck port, and rotating collar allowing for removal and insertion of connected electrical wires.
Abstract:
An in-use cover for an electrical junction box, where the cover cap is selectively attachable to and removable from the base plate through sliding engagement of channels on the perimeter of the base plate and ledges on the perimeter of the cover cap. The cover cap defines a hollow interior that overlays one or more component ports in the base plate when attached to the base plate. The cover cap has a bottom cut-out configured to accommodate plugs or other electrical components connected to the electrical junction box. The base plate has a bottom ledge configured to engage the bottom cut-out. When the cover cap is fully engaged in the base plate, the hollow interior and any electrical components contained therein are effectively sealed from intrusion of most moisture.
Abstract:
A resiliently flexible, rubberized light housing for sealingly enclosing and protecting a light bulb or fixture against moisture and other intrusion. The housing has an elongated, generally tubular body with an open first end and a closed second end. The open first end may receive and retain a bulb or fixture that has an exposed bulb or element or is environmentally sealed. If the bulb or fixture is sealed, then the same may hermetically seal the open first end. If the bulb or fixture is not sealed, then a lens may be included to hermetically seal the open first end with the bulb or fixture in the interior. Electrical wires for connection to the bulb or fixture may be passed through a sealing port on the closed send end. The plurality of ribs are configured for friction contact with the inside of a lighting can.
Abstract:
A simulated landscape rock having a hollow shell with an exterior surface that resembles a rock. One or more lighting cans are installed on an interior surface of the hollow shell. Where the simulated landscape rock is set-up by selectively drilling a hole through the exterior surface of the hollow shell in-line with one or more of the lighting cans. Each lighting can is configured to removably receive a light fixture with illumination from the light fixture directed through the hole drilled in the exterior surface.
Abstract:
An apparatus for equalizing voltage across an electrical lighting system, particularly in low voltage landscape lighting systems. The apparatus consists of a plastic cylinder having open ends and containing two or more connectors for connecting a homerun wire from a transformer to wire leads from the various light fixtures in the lighting system. The wire leads are of uniform length to ensure that each light fixture is ecu equally distant from the transformer.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises a quick release socket and a quick release base. The quick release socket consists of a generally conical shaped housing, a light bulb attachment means in the top surface of the housing, and two electrical contact posts on the bottom surface of the housing. Inside the housing, the light bulb attachment means is electrically connected to the two electrical contact posts. The quick release base consists of a generally cylindrical housing that is open on the top surface, hollowed out on the inside, and closed on the bottom surface. The inside of the bottom surface possess two electrical connection slots. The outside of the bottom surface possesses two electrical input posts. Inside the housing, the two electrical connection slots are electrically connected to the two electrical input posts. The two electrical contact posts of the quick release socket and the two electrical contact slots of the quick release base are designed to engage each other and lock together following insertion and rotation of the quick release socket in the quick release base. The quick release socket and the quick release base lock together by rotating the socket with respect to the base.
