    摘要: A fuel injector that allows spray targeting and distribution of fuel to be configured using non-angled or straight orifice having an axis parallel to a longitudinal axis of a valve subassembly. Metering orifices are located about the longitudinal axis and defining a first virtual circle greater than a second virtual circle defined by a projection of the sealing surface onto the metering disc so that all of the metering orifices are disposed outside the second virtual circle. The projection of the sealing surface converges at a virtual apex disposed within the metering disc. At least one channel extends between a first end and second end. The first end is disposed at a first radius from the longitudinal axis and spaced at a first distance from the metering disc. The second end is disposed at a second radius with respect to the longitudinal axis and spaced at a second distance from the metering disc such that a product of the first radius and the first distance is approximately equal to a product of the second radius and the second distance. Methods of controlling spray distribution and targeting are also provided.

    摘要: A fuel injector for use in a fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The fuel injector includes a body, a needle, and a metering orifice. The body has a longitudinal axis and a valve seat. The valve seat has a beveled annular surface and a central opening therethrough. The central opening is formed by a generally cylindrical wall. The needle includes a first portion having a first cross sectional area and a second portion having a second cross-sectional area. The second portion includes a needle end face which extends generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The needle is reciprocally located within the body along the longitudinal axis and is biased against the valve seat. The metering orifice is connected to a downstream end of the valve body. A fuel sac is generally formed by the metering orifice, the needle end face, and the cylindrical wall. A projection extends into the fuel sac, reducing a volume of the fuel sac. The projection extends from at least one of the needle end face and the metering orifice. A method of reducing unmetered fuel in a fuel injector by reducing sac volume is also disclosed.

    摘要: An electronic fuel control system for an internal combustion engine is disclosed capable of providing an enriched fuel/air mixture to the engine as a function of the engine's temperature and the engine's load during the transient warm up period. The fuel control unit embodies a full load warm up enrichment circuit controlling, in response to engine temperatures below a predetermined temperature and engine loads as determined from the pressure in the engine's intake manifold, the quantity of fuel being delivered to the engine. In the preferred embodiment the full load warm up enrichment circuit is a current sink sinking a portion of the current charging the injection timing capacitor in the electronic control unit to increase the duration of the generated injection fuel delivery pulses.
