Abstract: A method of implementing a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process. Abstract: A method of implementing a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process. The method includes generating a HARQ transmission that comprises one or more HARQ units by: determining a HARQ unit size of the one or more HARQ units; generating the one or more HARQ units by assigning to each respective HARQ unit, based on the HARQ unit size, at least a respective portion of a media access control (MAC) layer data unit; and generating a header for the HARQ transmission. The method further includes transmitting the HARQ transmission to a receiver. The one or more HARQ units are physical layer data units.
