Abstract: A glass syringe barrel is provided that has an at least partially conically shaped upper portion and a longitudinal axis. The glass syringe barrel has a top end through which a liquid can be ejected and a bottom end into which a plunger stopper can be pushed. The glass syringe barrel includes, in a direction from the top end to the bottom end, a cone, a shoulder region, and a body region. The shoulder region has and outer contour that has a concave and substantially circular arc-shaped area c1 with an outer radius r1. The outer contour of the glass syringe barrel in the shoulder region is defined by a certain minimum value the radius of curvature.

Abstract: A glass container is provided that includes a tube, a circular bottom, and a longitudinal axis. A curved glass heel extends from an outer end the bottom to the first end of the tube. The outer surface has a topography defined by a function ĥ(x) that is an azimuthal average of a distance between a contact plane and the outer surface at any given position located on a circle having the centre and the radius |x|. The values ĥ for ĥ(x) are determined for a plurality of circles the radius of which increases stepwise by 500 μm starting with a circle around the centre having a radius of 500 μm. The values ĥ are determined in a range from x=−0.4×d2/2 to x=+0.4×d2/2, d2 having a size such that at least 4 values ĥ are determined and can be fitted with a curvature function h ^ ( x ) = - c × x 2 1 + 1 - c 2 × x 2 + h 0 .

Abstract: A glass container for packaging a pharmaceutical composition including a glass tube with a first end and a second end, the glass tube having a wall thickness dw, a glass bottom having an outer area, and the glass bottom closes the glass tube at the first end. The glass container further including a curved glass heel extending from the outer area of the glass bottom to the first end of the glass tube. The curved glass heel is defined by an outer radius ro, an inner radius ri and a thickness of the glass dh in the curved glass heel, further wherein dh3/(ro×dw)>0.8 mm.

Abstract: A glass container is provided having a glass tube with a first end and a second end and a glass bottom closing the second end. The glass tube has a longitudinal axis and has, in a direction from the first to the second end, a top region, a junction region, a neck region, a shoulder region, and a body region. The top region is at the first end and has an outer diameter (dt), the neck region has an outer diameter (dn) with dn dt, and the glass tube in the body region has a thickness (lb). The outer contour in a transition area between the top and neck regions is defined by a radius of curvature. The glass containers have a neck squeeze test load of at least 1100 N.

Abstract: A redrawing method for the production of thin glasses is provided that allows redraw of high refractive index optical glasses. The includes the steps of providing a vitreous preform with a mean width B, a mean thickness D, and a refractive index nD of at least 1.68 in a redrawing device, heating at least a part of the preform, redrawing of the preform to a thin glass with a mean width b and a mean thickness d. The heated part of the preform exhibits, for the duration of at most 30 minutes, a temperature above a lower limit of devitrification of the glass. The glass of the preform exhibits a dependence of the viscosity on the temperature, which is characterized by a mean decrease of the viscosity with increasing temperature in an viscosity range of 108 to 105 dPas of at least 3*105 dPas/K.
