    Abstract: An optical connector holding one or more optical ferrule assembly is provided. The optical connector includes an outer body, an inner front body accommodating the one or more optical ferrule assembly, ferrule springs for urging the optical ferrules towards a mating receptacle, and a back body for supporting the ferrule springs. The outer body and the inner front body are configured such that four optical ferrule assembly are accommodated in a small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver footprint or eight optical ferrule assembly are accommodated in a quad small form-factor pluggable (QSFP) transceiver footprint. A receptacle can hold one or more connector inner bodies forming a single boot for all the optical fibers of the inner bodies.

    Abstract: Low profile optical fiber connectors comprising a ferrule, a plug frame configured to receive the ferrule, and an outer housing configured to receive the plug frame. The outer housing may be configured to protrude less than about 2 mm from one end of an adapter when the low profile optical fiber connector is inserted into the adapter. The connector may include a boot sized such that the boot protrudes from the end of the adapter by less than about 15 mm.

A narrow width fiber optic connector comprises a multi-fiber connector, wherein a width of said narrow width fiber optic connector is less than about 5.25 mm, a housing configured to hold the multi-fiber connector and further comprising a connector recess, and a pull tab having a ramp area configured to disengage a latch of one of an adapter and an SFP from said connector recess.     Abstract: Connector assemblies having an adjustable polarity are described. A connector assembly comprises a frame comprising a single housing having top and bottom frame components, first and second plug frames located within the housing, a first ferrule located in the first plug frame, a second ferrule located in the second plug frame, and a latch component attached to the top or bottom frame component, the latch component having at least one compression element. The latch component is configured to rotate around the housing when the at least one compression element is compressed to change the polarity of the connector assembly from a first polarity when the latch component is located at a first polarity position to a second polarity when the latch component is located at a second polarity position.

    Abstract: A behind-the-wall optical connector includes a ferrule having an annular collar projecting outwardly from a section of the ferrule and a plug frame receiving the ferrule in a central bore thereof, the plug frame including one or more resiliently-biased latches for gripping the ferrule annular collar to retain the ferrule within the plug frame.     Abstract: Reduced-profile connection components are described. The reduced-profile connection components are configured to connect various data transmission elements, including cables, network devices, and computing devices. A non-limiting example of a connection component includes a fiber optic connection component, including connectors, adapters, and assemblies formed therefrom. In some embodiments, the connection components may include mechanical transfer (MT) and multi-fiber push-on/pull-off (MPO) connection components, such as MT ferrules and MPO adapters. The reduced-profile connection components configured according to some embodiments have a smaller profile and/or require less parts to achieve a connection compared to conventional connection components. In some embodiments, the reduced-profile connection components may be used with conventional connection components. For example a reduced-profile connector may use a conventional MT ferrule to establish a connection within a conventional MPO adapter.

    Abstract: A multi-fiber, fiber optic connector is interchangeable between a male connector and a female connector by including a pin retainer having a releasable retention device configured to lock the pins in place within the retainer. The retention device may be opened, for example, with a release tool, to free the retention pins for removal of the pins. A method for switching a connector between a male connector configuration and a female connector configuration may be possible as a result of the releasable retention configuration.
