Abstract:
A fiber optic connector with a pair resilient actuators positioned on an outer portion of an upper body portion of a cable boot assembly, when depressed allow a user to remove the cable boot assembly from a housing, rotate, and change polarity of the ferrules located within a front body secured to the cable boot assembly.
Abstract:
A multi-fiber, fiber optic connector is interchangeable between a male connector and a female connector by including a pin retainer having a releasable retention device configured to lock the pins in place within the retainer. The retention device may be opened, for example, with a release tool, to free the retention pins for removal of the pins. A method for switching a connector between a male connector configuration and a female connector configuration may be possible as a result of the releasable retention configuration.
Abstract:
Reversible polarity fiber optic connectors are provided having housings at least partially surrounding first and second optical ferrules with walls above and beneath the ferrules. Positioning removable elements such as latches, removable arms, or push-pull tabs on the first wall above the ferrules yields fiber optic connectors with a first polarity type, and positioning the removable elements on the second wall beneath the ferrules yields fiber optic connectors with a second, opposite polarity type. Various engagement mechanisms are provided on either the connector housing walls or on the removable elements, or both, to assist in affixing the removable element to the connector housing.
Abstract:
Connector assemblies having an adjustable polarity are described. A connector assembly comprises a frame comprising a single housing having top and bottom frame components, first and second plug frames located within the housing, a first ferrule located in the first plug frame, a second ferrule located in the second plug frame, and a latch component attached to the top or bottom frame component, the latch component having at least one compression element. The latch component is configured to rotate around the housing when the at least one compression element is compressed to change the polarity of the connector assembly from a first polarity when the latch component is located at a first polarity position to a second polarity when the latch component is located at a second polarity position
Abstract:
Reduced-profile connection components are described. The reduced-profile connection components are configured to connect various data transmission elements, including cables, network devices, and computing devices. A non-limiting example of a connection component includes a fiber optic connection component, including connectors, adapters, and assemblies formed therefrom. In some embodiments, the connection components may include mechanical transfer (MT) and multi-fiber push-on/pull-off (MPO) connection components, such as MT ferrules and MPO adapters. The reduced-profile connection components configured according to some embodiments have a smaller profile and/or require less parts to achieve a connection compared to conventional connection components. In some embodiments, the reduced-profile connection components may be used with conventional connection components. For example a reduced-profile connector may use a conventional MT ferrule to establish a connection within a conventional MPO adapter.
Abstract:
A behind-the-wall optical connector having an outer housing configured to be inserted into an adapter with a corresponding inner surface, and a latch is attached to at least one side of housing configured to lock the connector into an adapter opening. A backbody, an integrated backbody or an external clip retains the ferrule assembly with a ferrule, biased forward toward a proximal end of the connector housing.
Abstract:
An optical connector holding two or more LC-type optical ferrules is provided. The optical connector includes an outer body, an inner front body accommodating the two or more LC-type optical ferrules, ferrule springs for urging the optical ferrules towards a mating connection, and a back body for supporting the ferrule springs. A removable inner front body for polarity change is disclosed. A multi-purpose rotatable boot assembly for polarity change is disclosed. The multi-purpose boot assembly can be pushed and pulled to insert and remove the micro connector from an adapter receptacle.

The retention device may be opened, for example, with a release tool, to free the retention pins for removal of the pins. Abstract:
Various embodiments disclosed herein are directed to an optical fiber connector. The optical fiber connector comprises at least one ferrule, at least one ferrule spring, a connector housing for holding at least one ferrule and at least one ferrule spring such that at least one ferrule spring is loaded to urge the at least one ferrule forward. The connector housing comprises an upper wall portion, the upper wall portion comprising a recess running lengthwise. The optical fiber connector further comprises a remote release comprising a front portion slidably received in the recess, and the remote release is configured to be pulled backward in relation to the connector housing whereby the front portion slides in the recess for releasing the optical fiber connector from a mating adapter.
