摘要： A system, method, and program product is provided that detects whether a network adapter has been removed from a computer system. If the network adapter, such as a wireless network adapter, has been removed from the computer system, then a tamper evident indicator (e.g., bit) is set in a nonvolatile memory area of the computer system. In addition, a hard drive password is set to a different password according to a hard drive password policy. The hard drive password controls access to files stored on the hard drive. In one embodiment, the power-on password is also changed to a new password so that the user has to enter the new power-on password when initializing the computer system in order to access the files stored on the computer system.

摘要： Fingertip-sized discrete areas are provided on a slate computer and have different tactile characteristics than the remainder of the surface on which they are disposed. The discrete areas are arranged to mimic home keys of a keyboard and each discrete area corresponds to a respective home key. In this way, a user is given tactile feedback of when fingers are properly placed in the home position, with home key finger placement triggering the presentation of a full keyboard on screen. Other embodiments do not use tactilely distinct keys, with simultaneous placement of two or more fingers on the computer triggering display of the virtual keyboard.

摘要： A method, apparatus, and system are disclosed for modifying substitution cost. A substitution cost module calculates a substitution cost between a first character of a first string and a second character of a second string. A spatial vector module calculates a spatial vector between the first character and the second character from a location of a first key representing the first character on a keyboard and a location of a second key representing the second character on the keyboard. The spatial vector module modifies the substitution cost if the spatial vector is less than a spatial threshold. An edit distance module calculates an edit distance between the first string and the second string using the modified substitution cost for the substitution cost of substituting the first character with the second character.

摘要： A system, method, and program product is provided that automatically allocates a display screen into two areas when the display screen is pivoted from a landscape orientation to a portrait orientation. A hypervisor receives a pivot request (e.g., from a user) to pivot the display screen from a landscape orientation to a portrait orientation. When the display screen is oriented in the landscape orientation, a primary operating system displays its data on the display screen. Upon reception of the pivot request, the hypervisor allocates the display screen into a primary display area and a secondary display area. The hypervisor then displays data originating from the primary operating system in the primary display area and displays data originating from a second operating system in the secondary display area.
