Abstract: A sensing device comprises sensor electrodes arranged in an array of rows and columns, and vias. A first vias is arranged in a first direction, and corresponds to a first column of sensor electrodes adjacent to a first side edge of the sensing device. A second via is arranged in a second direction different than the first direction, and corresponds to a second column of the sensor electrodes adjacent to a second side edge of the sensing device. Each of the sensor electrodes is configured to be coupled to a routing trace through one of the vias. In a first row of the plurality of sensor electrodes, a two vias are different distances from the first side edge and in a second row of the plurality of sensor electrodes, two vias are different distances from the second side edge.

Abstract: A semiconductor device comprises driver circuitry, an analog-digital (AD) converter, and processing circuitry. The driver circuitry is configured to supply a drive signal to a sensor array in a sensing frame comprising 2N bursts, N being an integer of two or more. The mixer circuitry is configured to modulate a plurality of carrier waves with a plurality of sensing signals corresponding to capacitances of a plurality of sensing electrodes of the sensor array, respectively, to output a plurality of mixer outputs. A number of the plurality of sensing electrodes is 2N−1 or 2N. The AD converter is configured to perform AD conversion on a sum signal of the plurality of mixer outputs. The processing circuitry is configured to detect an object based on the output of the AD converter.

Abstract: A semiconductor device comprises first mixer circuitry and processing circuitry. The first mixer circuitry is configured to generate a plurality of first mixer outputs through quadrature decomposition of a sensing signal. The first sensing signal corresponds to a capacitance of a first sensing electrode supplied with a drive signal. The quadrature decomposition is based on an in-phase local carrier which is in phase with the drive signal and an out-of-phase local carrier having a phase different from that of the in-phase local carrier. The plurality of first mixer outputs comprises an in-phase mixer output generated based on the in-phase local carrier and the sensing signal, and an out-of-phase mixer output generated based on the out-of-phase local carrier and the sensing signal.

Abstract: This disclosure generally provides an input device with near-field and far-field receiver electrodes. Using resulting signals captured by these receivers, the input device generates a near-field capacitive image and a far-field capacitive image. In one embodiment, the near-field capacitive image contains information identifying a location of an input object in a first plane in free space, while the far-field capacitive image contains information indentifying a location of the input object in a second plane in free space. Further, the first and second planes may be parallel planes where the first plane is closer to an input surface of the input device than the second plane. In one embodiment, the input device compares the information in the near-field and far-field images in order to determine a state of the input object.
