Abstract: The present invention is directed to golf balls having improved aerodynamic performance due, at least in part, to the selection of the plan shapes of the dimples thereon. In particular, the present invention is directed to a golf ball that includes at least a portion of its dimples having a plan shape defined by low frequency periodic functions along a closed simple path. Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a golf ball showing an increased spin rate on approach shots under a wet condition while maintaining a spin rate on approach shots under a dry condition. The present invention provides a golf ball comprising a golf ball body and a paint film formed on a surface of the golf ball body, wherein the paint film has a multi-layered construction composed of two or more layers, and a difference (Min−Mout) between a 10% elastic modulus (Min) of an innermost layer of the paint film and a 10% elastic modulus (Mout) of an outermost layer of the paint film is 25 kgf/cm2 or more.

Abstract: Multi-layered golf balls containing a dual-core structure are provided. The core structure includes an inner core (center) comprising a thermoplastic composition, preferably including: a) ethylene acid copolymer, b) plasticizer, and c) cation source. Preferably, a fatty acid ester such as ethyl oleate is used as the plasticizer. The outer core layer is preferably formed from a thermoset composition such as polybutadiene rubber. The core layers have different hardness levels. For example, the inner core can have a positive, zero, or negative hardness gradient. The core assembly preferably has a positive hardness gradient extending across the entire assembly. The core structure and resulting ball have relatively good resiliency at given compressions.

The method includes injecting a cover mixture into a mold to form a cover mixture comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane resin and a polyahl, subjecting the golf ball to a polyisocyanated solution to create a golf ball with a polyisocyanated cover, and heating the golf ball or polyisocyanated cover to remove a solvent component of the polyisocyanated solution and promote the reaction of the polyisocyanate with the cover mixture and polyahl.

Abstract: Methods for making multi-piece golf balls having an outer cover, intermediate, or other layer comprising a heterogeneous composition are provided. The heterogeneous composition comprises a mixture of Compounds A and B. For example, the compounds can be different polyurethanes, ethylene acid copolymer ionomers, polyesters, polyamides, or any other suitable materials for making golf ball layers. Compounds having different hardness levels can be used. For example, the composition can comprise a mixture of hard and soft materials. The invention also encompasses golf balls made from such methods. The golf balls have good resiliency and impact durability along with other optimum playing performance properties.
