    摘要: The invention relates to a selecting and screening device (15) for sealing elements or for hollow stoppers intended for a sealing station (4), the device being provided in the form of a chute consisting of two portions: a feed portion (17) and an outlet portion (18), and, between said two portions, a transit channel (20) forming an arc and comprising an ejection window (33), wherein said outlet portion (18) is to be connected to the sealing station (4), said channel (20) partially encloses a wheel (21) provided with notches (22) that match the size of said stoppers (2), and the wheel (21) is associated with pins (30), characterized in that the function of said pins (30) is to support the stoppers (2) in the respective notch (22) thereof as the former pass in front of said ejection window (33), if said stoppers are correctly oriented and not defective, and in that said outlet portion (18) is intended to convey said properly oriented and non-defective stoppers.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for inspecting glass containers is described in which a high frequency field is produced at an inspection station. The high frequency signal, which may be a radio frequency signal, is fed to the antenna of a probe centrally positioned relative to the antenna and coaxial therewith. The probe, as a unit, is supported adjacent the container to be inspected and the container is rotated relative to the probe. The manner of mounting the probe relative to the bottle permits the probe to move closer or further away from the container wall, depending upon the out-of-roundness of the container and the radio frequency signal is picked up by the probe with the signal level depending upon the relative position of the probe and the wall of the container. This varying detection output is compared with a steady state detection output to derive a signal which is proportional to the relative position of the probe and the container wall. The signal is compared with a reject reference signal to indicate a non-acceptable container and may cause rejection of the container.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for detecting rim surface defects in glass containers wherein the edge of a loop of a thin, flexible strip of mechanically durable tape is placed in contact with the sealing rim surface of the glass container while the surface is rotated. The loop of tape is supported in such a manner that it will be flexed or deflected when the lower edge of the loop is contacted by a defect and the deflection of the loop will close a contact, completing a circuit for indicating the presence of a defect in the container. The particular arrangement of the mounting of the tape and the steadying means for the bottle are such that these elements are at a preselected or preset, constant level and the container is brought into and rotated in the inspection station without requiring relative vertical movement of the container and the sensing head.

    摘要: Apparatus for gauging the upper rim surface of a glass container for height as well as a symmetrical defect known as ''''warp.'''' A warp gauge is disclosed in which a container is rotated about its vertical axis in a predetermined location. A pair of differential transformers are connected in series adding relationship having their armatures connecting contact members engageable with diametrically opposed points on the container rim. An output signal is produced proportional to the height difference of the contact members and a reject is provided when this signal exceeds a predetermined value. A pair of tapered guide members are added to engage the rim of the container as it is moved into position. These guide members are located alongside the contact members and raise the contact members just to the height of contact with the rim of the container, preventing damage to the container and to the guide members as the container is moved into inspection alignment. In addition, a separate rim sensing arm is provided to sense the presence of the rim of the container, being engaged by the rim of the container as it is moved into inspection alignment. A height measuring circuit is activated when a container is sensed in inspection alignment.
