摘要: A method of making a longitudinal reinforcing structure for a wind turbine blade. The method comprises a) providing an elongate master strip (62) of reinforcing material having substantially flat first and second surfaces, the distance between the first and second surfaces defining the thickness of the master strip; and b) dividing the master strip transversely to form a first strip and a shorter master strip, the respective strips being arranged end to end such that a trailing end of the first strip is located adjacent a new leading end of the master strip. The step of dividing the master strip comprises removing material from a dividing region extending through the entire thickness of the master strip, wherein the dividing region is shaped such that a chamfer (19c) at the trailing end (19b) of the first strip is created and a chamfer (63a) at the new leading end (63) of the master strip is created when the master strip is divided.

摘要: A random orbital finishing apparatus for finishing the surfaces of solid material including wood, plastic, metal and composites, but most particularly plastic solid surface materials. The apparatus includes a conveyor for transporting such unfinished material pass a uniquely mounted random orbital sander where it is subsequently finished thereby. A plurality of random orbitals may be mounted and in a side-by-side position. The apparatus may further include a system of proximity sensors and air cylinders which enable the random orbitals to automatically adjust their position onto the surface to be finished when the material is passed thereby and subsequently return back to a starting position after the material passes.

摘要: An apparatus for removing a thin film of material from a portion (23) of a sheet of fabric (22) and its method of operation, includes a grinder wheel (19) spaced from a nip roller (29) which is carried by an arm (32). The initial spacing between the grinder wheel (19) and the nip roller (29) is established by an adjusting mechanism (37) which pivots the arm (32), that spacing being determined by the expected thickness of the fabric (22). Pinch rollers (27) move the fabric (22) through the space, and a thickness-sensing wheel (44) rides on the fabric (22) upstream of the nip roller (29). Upon a change in the thickness of the fabric (22), a sensing arm (45) which carries the sensing wheel (44) pivots which, through a link arm (54), pivots a regulator arm (61) which carries a follower roller (70) that rides on the arm (32). Such allows the nip roller (29) to move toward or away from the grinder wheel (19) dependent on the thickness of the fabric (22) sensed by the movement of the sensing wheel (44).

摘要: A method for repairing and refinishing an audio and video compact disk having a scratch or a plurality of scratches on a plastic cover bottom side of the disk. The scratch interfering with a laser beam reading digital information upwardly through the bottom side of the disk. The top side of the disk having a thin film layer of the recorded digital information secured thereon. The interference by the scratch causing an unwelcome "skip" during the play of the disk thereby lending its playing qualities unacceptable. The method of repair includes first inspecting the disk to determine the depth of the scratch. If the scratch is deep, a heavy cut, medium cut and fine cut cleaner may be used. The top side of the disk is then placed against the soft covered wheel and secured thereto. As the disk is spun at low rpm, the heavy cut cleaner is applied evenly across the surface of the bottom side of the disk using a clean cotton cloth or cotton pad. This step is repeated at higher rpm using a medium cut cleaner and then a fine cut cleaner is used. A clear plastic cleaner and a clear plastic polish are then applied using a cotton pad. The disk is then finally inspected for any remaining scratches. To further enhance the repair of the disk and extend the playing life of the disk, a clear plastic cover is applied to the top side of the disk to protect the recorded data thereon from permanent damage.

摘要: The present invention is applicable to grinding apparatus for removing irregularities from and for levelling the working surface of thick, large width rubber belts used to compact paper or (in the case of fabric, preshrink) fibrous webs; and the control of such grinding apparatus. The present invention permits grinding during production use of a belt when the environment near (above) the belt is inimical to visual grinding control by personnel due to high heat and steam. Sensing and control means placed remotely from the working surface of the belt permits an operator to control grinding more precisely than if done visually and without subjecting the operator to dangerously adverse working conditions.

摘要: Containers of synthetic plastic material having an outwardly extending flange about at least a portion of their periphery are subjected to an abrading operation along the outer edge of the flange and then to a brushing operation along the surface of the flange adjacent to the outer edge. To avoid contamination of the interior of the container by the abraded and other plastic particles, desirably air or other gas is caused to flow outwardly across the surfaces of the flange during the abrading and brushing steps.
