摘要： The present invention has a plurality of pivoting linkages to lift and retract a front castor assembly to facilitate traversing an obstacle or rough terrain. In this regard, a wheelchair suspension having a frame member and at least one a pivoting assembly is provided. The pivoting assembly has, for example, a first linkage pivotally coupled to the frame member and a second linkage pivotally coupled to the frame member. At least one front caster assembly is coupled to the first and second linkages wherein upward pivotal movement of the first linkage causes the caster assembly to undergo upward vertical movement and upward pivotal movement of the second linkage causes the caster assembly to undergo lateral movement inward toward the wheelchair.

摘要： A fitting for a vehicle incorporates a backrest and a removable seat squab so that the fitting may be used as a conventional seat, or as a safety fitting to engage a rear of a wheelchair. The backrest is wider at the top than at a lower point, to enable the handles of a relatively narrow wheelchair to pass on either side of the backrest. The backrest is mounted on a supporting frame by a pivotal link mechanisms enabling the backrest to move forwardly so that an electric wheelchair, or other wheelchair that has a rearwardly extending portion towards the back lower part of the wheelchair may be accommodated with the back of the wheelchair in engagement with the backrest of the fitting. The fitting is mounted for lateral movement, the fitting being supported on a base plate which can move laterally on a floor-mounted platform to enable a wheelchair to be manoeuvred easily past the fitting.

摘要： An articulating leg rest is provided having a first member pivotally connected to a base frame. The base frame may be either connected to or part of a wheelchair frame. A second member is telescopically received by the first member. A drive system includes a motor-driven lead screw. First and second housings each have internally threaded portions engaged with the lead screw. A link connects the first housing to the base frame. The second housing engages the second member. Rotation of the lead screw advances the first housing along the lead screw, moving the link and causing the first and second members to rotate relative to the base frame. Rotation of the lead screw also advances the second housing along the lead screw, causing the second housing to linearly translate the second member relative to the first member.

The back assembly includes a relatively rigid shell member, and a mounting system for coupling the shell member to the wheelchair back frame. The mounting system includes at least a first mounting bracket assembly, a second mounting bracket assembly, and a lateral member that is configured to be coupled to the first and second mounting bracket assemblies. The first mounting bracket assembly is configured to couple to a first of the wheelchair back frame support posts, and the second mounting bracket assembly is configured to couple to the second of the wheelchair back frame support posts. The lateral member is selectively operable to uncouple the shell member from the wheelchair back frame.

摘要： A transportable power wheelchair is provided which employs a variety of detachable modules to facilitate transportation and storage. The wheelchair may be readily disassembled/reassembled by a single individual without assistance and/or the need for special tools. The wheelchair includes a power supply unit, a pair of primary drive wheels, and a drive train subassembly mounting and independently driving each at least one of the drive wheels. First and second main frame subassemblies preferably have mounted thereon one of the drive train subassemblies. The power supply unit is also detachably mounted therebetween. At least one cross member assembly connects the main frame subassemblies. The cross member assembly, in combination with the main frame subassemblies, define the main frame assembly. A seat is also detachably mounted to the main frame assembly by means of the cross members.

摘要： A wheeled walker with wheels that are at least seven inches in diameter while having a seat with its top surface less than 20 inches high and accommodating a full size basket by using an inverted “u” shaped lower cross member with spacers that cushion the basket. Spacers carried on a rear upper cross member cushion the seat. The basket includes a pair of opposing vertical wires of substantially greater thickness than adjacent vertical metal wires and which extend upwardly into hooks that support the basket on a front upper cross member. A tubular seat back bears a tubular cushion having a radius of curvature such that the rearmost depth is about 3 to 8 inches, preferably 4 to 7 inches, most preferably 6½ inches, and the arc angle is about 110 to 120 degrees, preferably about 112 to 116 degrees, most preferably about 114 degrees. The tubular seat back is carried on tubular members received in respective opposing tubular receptors, each having an aperture receiving a latch locking the seat back to front legs of the wheeled walker that is spring loaded to jut from the aperture and which is connected by a lever to a release button jutting from another aperture.
