Abstract:
Cosmetic agents for the control of head dandruff, containing customary cosmetic carrier substances and additives, and 1 to 5% by weight of salts of at least one biguanide derivative of the general formula ##STR1## wherein m is from 1 to 10 and n is from 1 to 6. Preferred salts include oligohexamethylene biguanide, oligotetramethylene biguanide and 1-methyl biguanide. Also preferred are the hydrochloride salts of biguanide derivatives. The agents may be in the form of shampoos, hair lotions, hair setting preparations, rinses, hair dressing gels and creams, hair oils, powders, or sprays. Customary carrier substances may be an ointment base, a powder, water, alcohol or water-alcohol mixtures. Customary cosmetic additives include resins, emulsifiers, thickeners, hair care substances, coloring agents, perfume oils, solid fillers, and propellants.
Abstract:
Novel pyridazine-2-oxide derivatives inclusive of 3-mercaptopyridazine-2-oxides, disulfides thereof, metal salts thereof and 3-(2-oxopyridazinyl)isothiouronium compounds having particular utility as antimicrobial agents per se and in skin cleansing detergent compositions, shampoos, hair dressing and the like.
Abstract:
Mixtures of the heavy metal salts of 1-hydroxy-2-pyridinethione and either diphenylbismuth acetate, bismuth trichloride, bismuth formic iodide, or bismuth subgallate, provide synergistic antibacterial and antifungal activity, especially against Pseudomonas aeruginosa; compositions containing said mixture exhibit this same antibacterial and antifungal effectiveness.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an unexpected discovery that propylene glycol is highly effective at killing or inhibiting Propionibacterium acnes in a mammalian skin disorder, as well as to the use of propylene glycol and salicylic acid in a skin-disorder treatment. This invention also relates to compositions containing propylene glycol alone or in combination with salicylic acid for use in killing or inhibiting Propionibacterium acnes.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a foaming composition for washing and treating hair and/or scalp essentially characterised in that it contains in an aqueous medium: at least an active principle selected among corticoids and retinoids; at least an anionic surfactant; at least an amphoteric surfactant; and a pro-penetrating agent.
Abstract:
A hair and scalp treatment composition containing (1) an anti-dandruff agent such as salicylic acid, (2) a polyethylenimine, and (3) an amphoteric surfactant. The composition provides superior effects for repairing damaged hair, protecting hair against chemical and mechanical damage. In addition, the composition also provides scalp treatment for against dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis. The composition could be incorporated into either aqueous or anhydrous solvent systems.
