摘要： A modular tabletop apparatus, typically used for workpiece storage and handling during robotic manipulation and feeding to a machine, is disclosed. Modules of the apparatus comprise detection interfaces disposed at locations corresponding to module edge locations and arranged in a periodic grid. Alignment of facing detection interfaces along common edges of pairs of adjacent modules permits module controllers to detect neighboring modules, and a main controller to compute the overall size and shape of the tabletop formed by the modules. Connecting arrangements are also disclosed. The connecting arrangements may be placed at the same grid locations as the detection interfaces, advantageously permitting alignment of detection interfaces for any interconnection configuration of modules. Modules may comprise plates with a grid of positioning indentations. The period of the positioning grid can be an integer multiple or integer fraction of that of the interface/connection grid.

In an embodiment, the expandable and collapsible table comprises a table frame including a center section having opposite outer edges, and a plurality of lateral supports hinged to the opposite outer edges of the center section of the table frame and at one or more center points along the length of each lateral support. The plurality of lateral supports are configured to allow the center section of the table frame to be expanded and collapsed in unison in substantially the same horizontal plane, to allow the table frame to be easily manipulated. The table legs can be mounted on locking wheels to allow the table to be easily manipulated for expansion and collapse. A plurality of leaves can be nested into one or more stacks to form a table top, or to be stored in a storage space underneath the table top.

摘要： A table (10) includes an extensible top surface including end leaves (20, 22) which are slidably mounted on a frame (12). The end leaves (20, 22) are mounted by means of a roller mechanism (62, 66) which permits easy movement of the leaves between an opened and closed position to allow for insertion of a center leaf (28). The center leaf (28) is carried on the frame (12) and is displaceable between a down position below the top surface of the table and an up position wherein the center leaf forms a portion of the top surface. The leaf (28) is mounted to the table by means of a linkage (34, 46) which allows the center leaf (28) to be displaced between the up and down positions. In order to facilitate movement of the center leaf (28) to the up position, at least one torsion rod (40) or other spring element is mounted between the center leaf (28) and the table frame (12) to provide the desired biasing force to maintain the center leaf (28) in the up position.
