摘要： A golf club wood head facing machine is disclosed which comprises a base with a planar top upon which is mounted a face cutting assembly with a movable motor driven cutter which can be pivoted simultaneously both horizontally and vertically to shape the head's face to give it a defined bulge and roll. In addition thereto there is mounted on the assembly a club head holding mechanism consisting of a downwardly directed clamp above a railbed having two parallel rails mounted thereon to permit the seating and clamping of the golf head to be faced. The holder provides loft, face angle, face progression and lie adjustment means, as well as feed means to urge the club face forward against the cutter. Provision is also made to raise or lower the holder so as to locate the club face against the cutter. A method for finishing club head faces is also disclosed which uses the apparatus of the invention and consists of the steps of clamping the golf wood head face to cutter, setting a defined lie on the railbed, clamping the wood to the holder, setting a defined loft by means of the loft setting assembly, setting a defined face angle by means of the face angle subassembly, setting a defined bulge radius; setting a defined roll radius, turning on the machine, adjusting the height of the center of the wood face with the cutter, urging the wood face against the cutter, and shaping the face horizontally and vertically simultaneously.

摘要： A hand-operated precision profiling tool for use in fabricating double-reed mouthpieces for double-reed musical instruments employs a reed support that is rotatably mounted on a base adjacent a manually-operated cutting assembly. The reed support holds a section of reed stock and a profiling template in fixed alignment for rotation about a common axis. The cutting assembly, comprising a blade and a stylus on a movable carriage, shaves a selected portion of the reed stock with strokes of the carriage parallel to the common axis, the stylus tracing the contour of the template as the blade shaves the reed stock accordingly. A handwheel enables hand rotation of the reed support within predetermined limits to select the portion shaved, and the reed support may include separate oboe and english horn nests on opposite sides to enable use for either size reed.

摘要： A spindle shaper machine tool successively performs a plurality of operations on a work piece without removal and replacement of cutter heads on the spindle. The cutter heads are superimposed on the spindle, a fluid pressure jack quickly shifts the spindle to align a selected head with a work piece and the work piece is either manually or automatically advanced across the rotating selected tool. In the automatic shaper tool, a collar bearing stop for each cutter head is also provided on the spindle to abut the work piece or a template controlling the cutting of the work piece. The jack can be manually actuated by the operator or automatically actuated at the completion of a cutting cycle. Various combinations of cutter heads and bearing stop sets are mountable on the spindle to perform selected operations such as rough and finishing cuts, heavy-duty and light cuts, cutting and sanding, adding or modifying cuts and the like.

摘要： A method and apparatus for shaping the edges and planing a surface of elongate boards in a single integrated operation so that the sides and ends thereof are interlockingly matched with complementary shapes. A leading end of each board is moved laterally past a first edge cutting head which cuts a first shape therein. Then the board is moved longitudinally past the same cutting head such that the same shape is cut in a first side thereof. After a portion of the first side is cut, one of the faces of the board is planed by a cutting head and, subsequently, the board is moved longitudinally past a second edge cutting head which cuts a shape in the second side of the board complementary to the shape previously cut in the first side. After cutting of the second side of the board is completed, the trailing edge of the board is moved laterally past the second cutting head which shapes the trailing edge similar to the second side so as to be complementary to the shape previously cut in the board's leading edge. This method is carried out by an apparatus which utilizes only one cutting head to shape two adjacent edges while minimizing the necessary manipulation of the board. The operations are executed by two movable carriages for moving and positioning the boards and a central table housing the cutting heads. The operations of the carriages, cutting heads and various guide mechanisms are governed by a hybird control system utilizing pneumatic, hydraulic and electric power transfer and control means. The apparatus also accepts random length boards, is adjustable to a variety of graded width boards, and automatically loads raw boards and stacks finished boards.

摘要： A method of framing construction includes pre-mortising a group of elongated beams to be used as plate material by forming notches across the width of each of the beams at longitudinally spaced apart locations along the length of each beam. A framed wall panel is formed by arranging the pre-mortised beams to provide a bottom plate of the wall panel, and an upper plate of the wall panel spaced from and extending generally parallel to the bottom plate, with the notches of the upper plate being aligned longitudinally with the notches of the bottom plate. The ends of a series of studs are placed in the aligned notches, and the ends of the studs are fastened to the notched portions of the plates to form a rigid framed wall panel in which the studs extend vertically between the bottom plate and upper plate when the panel is fastened in an upright position to provide the wall framing for the building.

摘要： For use with a work member such as a wood strip there is provided a dual dado machine with a main frame having at the front a magazine for a stack of several of the strips. The bottom strip is fed from the magazine simultaneously to occupy a couple of work sites on the main frame. The strip is accurately positioned endwise and is clamped on the main frame by hold down devices. A pair of dado cutters are movable simultaneously from the back of the main frame and in selectable and preferably converging paths through the work sites to make dado cuts through the top of the held strip. The cutters are then returnable to the back of the main frame. The cut strip is released by the hold down devices and is ejected from the machine. The operating sequences are preferably automatically controlled.
