摘要:
The invention pertains to ribbon machine manufacture of glass articles. The invention includes novel vibration crack-off technique on the ribbon machine. As the article is severed, it drops by gravity a short distance onto individual transfer tongs traveling with the ribbon and just previous to crack-off is inserted around the article neck region. Upon severance, the articles are individually delivered in succession by the tongs to a further processing machine unit, such as a burn-off machine. Simultaneously with crack-off, a pressurized nozzle directs a flow of air under pressure from within the neck region of the article in an upwardly direction and through the mouth region of the article. Any glass chips or particles therein are expelled by the pressurized air flow.
摘要:
Apparatus for manufacturing glass tumblers or other glass articles which is positioned in a manufacturing line to receive the glass articles after they have been shaped by a forming machine and to complete the articles by cracking-off unwanted portions. The machine includes an aligning and feeding means, a main crack-off turret, and annealing and cooling means. The articles are fed in upright position to the crack-off turret and the unneeded portion or moil is cracked-off or removed from the lower portion of the article by a combined heating and impacting operation. After the moil is removed on the turret, the newly formed edges of the glass vessel are smoothed or polished and the article is then tempered and cooled.

Methods of fabricating formed glass articles are described herein. In one embodiment, a method for fabricating a formed glass article may include forming a glass ribbon, forming a parson, and shaping the parson to form a glass article. The glass article may be attached to the glass ribbon at an attachment region defining an edge of the glass article. The process may also include contacting the attachment region with a focal line of a laser beam and separating the glass article from the glass ribbon at the attachment region. The attachment region may be perforated by the laser beam and the focal line may be substantially perpendicular to the plane of the glass ribbon.

The invention relates to a process for manufacturing a hollow glass article comprising at least one thin side wall (42), in which process: at least one parison of molten glass is introduced into a blank mold, a blank of the article is formed in the blank mold from said parison, the blank of the article is transferred into a finishing mold, and the article is formed in the finishing mold. During forming of the article, excess glass is directed towards the exterior of the side wall of the article to form a convex bulge (43) and the bulge is removed to give the side wall of the article a substantially constant thickness. The invention also relates to a corresponding machine and product.

A glass production line comprising a cutting table, a tempering furnace having a loading station that includes a changeable set of uniquely identifiable work-piece storage loading locations adjacent the loading station with each storage loading location receiving a work-piece therein for subsequent furnace processing, wherein a subset of the uniquely identifiable work-piece storage loading locations is moved away from the loading station when it is emptied of furnace work-pieces and a new sub-set of uniquely identifiable work-piece storage loading locations is moveable adjacent the loading station to provide the changeable set of uniquely identifiable work-piece storage loading locations adjacent the loading station, and a dynamic optimizer coupled to the furnace for dynamically scheduling furnace layouts for glass work-pieces to be tempered, wherein the dynamic furnace optimizer is adapted to schedule work-pieces from uniquely identifiable work-piece storage loading locations not currently adjacent the unloading station based upon a minimum yield gain.

Systems, methods, apparatus and products relate to drawing and blowing of ultra thin glass substrates, such as flexible display glass sheets, for example, organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays, liquid crystal displays (LCDs), and/or other flexible substrate applications, such as lighting, and/or other technologies, such as electro-wetting (EW), electro-phoretic display applications, etc. A localized heat source centripetally heats a vertical glass pre-form, while a pressurized air source blows the heated glass to expansion. An air bearing may centripetally blow air against the expanding pre-form to limit expansion and prevent contact of the pre-form with the localized heat source. Meanwhile, the pre-form is pulled vertically to draw the heated glass. The pre-form may float in a floatation mechanism to compensate for gravity when the pre-form is pulled upward. The blown and drawn pre-form may be cooled, coated with a polymer layer, and cut into a ribbon by in-line devices as it exits the air bearing. For example, a laser may helicoidally cut a polymer-coated blown and drawn pre-form into a ribbon, which may be rolled for collection.

This apparatus uses a programmable controller to control laser beam and standard fiber chopper units. The units usually are affixed to resin mix heads. The conventional choppers use steel blades that are randomly spaced, angled and sized. The PC also varies the speed of the standard chopper. The laser device operates in a manner that allows one to set the pulse rate for the specific purpose of varying the fiber length. During operation, the intensity of the laser may be adjusted to accommodate cutting or different sizes and kinds of fibers. The apparatus preferably produces fiber reinforced urethane substrates such as interior door panels for automobile doors.

A unitary shear blade (20) for shearing a plurality of spaced apart streams of molten glass into individual gobs, the shear blade having a free end (20a) and an opposed end (20b). The free end is provided with a plurality of side-by-side shearing surfaces (22, 24, 26) each of which has a generally V-shaped machined shearing edge. A plurality of fastener receiving openings (28) extends through the shear blade at locations adjacent the opposed ends thereof to permit the shear blade to be removably secured to a carriage (10) by a plurality of threaded fasteners (12).
