Abstract: A pressure detection module may be provided that includes: a first electrode and a second electrode which are located on an insulation layer; and an elastic foam. The elastic foam is located between the first and the second electrodes and a reference potential layer located apart from the pressure detection module. A capacitance between the first electrode and the second electrode is changed according to a relative distance change between the reference potential layer and the first and the second electrodes through a transformation of the elastic foam. A magnitude of a pressure which causes the elastic foam to be transformed is detected according to the capacitance change.

Abstract: A touch sensor panel may be provided that includes a plurality of drive electrodes formed in a first layer; and a plurality of receiving electrodes which are arranged to cross the plurality of drive electrodes and are formed in a second layer. In the plurality of drive electrodes, a column of drive electrodes is formed by connecting a plurality of lozenge-shaped unit electrodes in a column direction, and the drive electrodes of each column are disposed at a regular interval in a row direction. The plurality of receiving electrodes are composed of a line having a predetermined width and are arranged in the row direction in such a way as to pass through a center of the unit electrode. Through this, the touch sensor panel capable of linearly detecting the change of the capacitance is provided, so that touch position can be accurately detected.

Abstract: A smartphone may include a first cover layer and an LCD panel. A backlight unit may be located under the LCD panel. A touch sensor may sense touch in a capacitive manner. The backlight unit may include a pressure sensor and a spacer layer. The pressure sensor includes a plurality of electrodes formed in a single layer attached on the second cover layer and spaced apart from the reflective sheet. A driving signal is applied to the touch sensor and a touch position is detected by a sensing signal. A magnitude of a touch pressure is detected based on a change amount of capacitance which is output from the pressure sensor and which is changed according to a distance between the pressure sensor and an electrode located within the LCD panel. The pressure sensor is attached on the second cover layer as an integral sheet including insulation layers.

Abstract: A device may be provided that includes: a display; a touch sensing unit which senses a touch at a particular position; a pressure sensing unit capable of sensing a magnitude of a pressure at the touched position; and a control unit. The control unit controls an operation of the device in accordance with an input of a user through the touch sensing unit and the pressure sensing unit, and controls the control amount of the device in accordance with a force and swipe gesture or swipe and force gesture. The control amount may be any one of sound volume, a magnification ratio of a current screen, zoom level of an image that is captured in a camera capture mode, a screen brightness, a vibration intensity, a camera focal length, a media play speed, and a scroll speed. According to the embodiment, the operability of the device is enhanced.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a touch input device capable of detecting a pressure of a touch on a touch surface is disclosed. The touch input device includes a substrate and a display module. A common voltage electrode is disposed within the display module. The touch input device further comprises an electrode which is disposed at a position where a distance between the electrode and the common voltage electrode changes according to the touch on the touch surface. The distance changes according to a magnitude of the pressure of the touch. Further, an electric signal depending on the distance is outputted from the electrode.

Abstract: A sensitivity compensation method of a touch input device sensing a touch pressure may be provided. The sensitivity compensation method includes: defining reference points spaced apart from each other on a touch sensor panel; generating a reference data corresponding to an electrical characteristic sensed by applying a predetermined pressure to the reference points; generating, on the basis of the reference data, an interpolated data corresponding to an electrical characteristic for a random point present between the reference points; calculating, on the basis of the generated reference data and interpolated data, with respect to the reference point and random point respectively, a compensation factor for compensating a sensitivity of the touch input device to a target value; and compensating uniformly for the sensitivity of the touch input device by applying the calculated compensation factor to each corresponding points.
