    Abstract: A vehicle simulator including: a base; a plurality of moveable components; and one or more physical and/or power connectors for coupling the components to the base. The components are positionable on the base with the connectors coupling the components to the base in a first arrangement to simulate a first vehicle type. The components are moveable to and positionable on the base with the connectors coupling the components to the base in a second arrangement different to the first arrangement to simulate a second vehicle type.

    Abstract: A method of inserting a pin in a bore of an article may include first providing an article with a bore, the bore having an inside diameter. The method may then include providing a pin having a hollow body, the hollow body having a diameter with a profile with a pattern of voids. The method may then include applying an axial force on an end of the hollow body to cause the diameter of the pin to reduce in size to a point where the diameter of the pin is less than the inside diameter of the article. The method may further include aligning the pin inside of the bore of the article, and then removing the axial force on the end of the hollow body.

    Abstract: A gas turbine engine for an aircraft, comprises a high-pressure (HP) spool comprising an HP compressor and a first electric machine driven by an HP turbine, the first electric machine having a first maximum output power; a low-pressure (LP) spool comprising an LP compressor and a second electric machine driven by an LP turbine, the second electric machine having a second maximum output power; and an engine controller configured to identify a condition to the effect that the LP turbine is operating in an unchoked regime, and, in response to an electrical power demand being between zero and the first maximum output power, only extracting electrical power from the first electric machine to meet the electrical power demand.

    Abstract: An assembly of a servo pump and a hydraulic motor. The assembly has a housing which contains the pump and the motor. The motor has a rotating body which rotates under the motive power of a pressurised motor liquid flow. The motor has a high pressure region which receives the pressurised motor liquid flow, and a low pressure region through which the motor liquid flow leaves the motor. The pump also has a rotating body. The pump has a low pressure region which receives servo liquid flow to be pumped by its rotating body, and a high pressure region through which pressurised servo liquid flow leaves the pump. Each rotating body is mounted on a respective journal.

    Abstract: A fuel injector comprises a fuel feed arm and a fuel injector head and the fuel injector head has a fuel passage. The fuel feed arm has a fuel supply passage in fluid communication with the fuel passage in the fuel injector head. A first light guide extends through the fuel feed arm and has a distal end arranged to direct light into the fuel passage in the fuel injector head. A light source is arranged to supply light into a proximal end of the first light guide. A second light guide extends through the fuel feed arm and has a distal end arranged to receive transmitted light in the fuel passage in the fuel injector head and a light receiver is arranged to collect light at a proximal end of the second light guide.

    Abstract: A hydraulic seal arrangement for a rotating machine comprises an annular housing disposed around a shaft having an axis of rotation, the annular housing being relatively rotatable with respect to the shaft and having a sealing fluid zone within a radially outer portion of an interior of the annular housing. A fin extends radially from the shaft into the annular housing, with at least a portion of the fin extending radially into the sealing fluid zone. In use, the sealing fluid is centrifugally accelerated before being directly introduced into the sealing fluid zone by a sealing fluid inlet so as to generate a swirl component upon its introduction.

    Abstract: A variable diffuser comprises a passage, at least two vanes disposed within the passage, and at least two pennies. The passage is defined between opposing disk faces of a hub and a tip. Each of the vanes comprises a body having a leading edge and a trailing edge. The body extends between the hub face and the disk face. Each of the pennies is coupled to a respective vane body near an edge of the penny and an actuator. Rotation of at least one penny changes the orientation of the respective vane relative to the hub face.
