Abstract:
A fuse includes an insulative body, a primary fuse element extending within the body, a fuse state indicator extending on an exterior surface of the body and electrically connected in parallel with the primary fuse element, and first and second ferrules coupled to opposing ends of the fuse body and electrically connecting the primary fuse element and the fuse state indicator. At least one of the ferrules includes a recessed contact area establishing electrical connection to the fuse state indicator.
Abstract:
An electrical device includes a body, an electrical contact having a first end for electrically coupling to an electrical apparatus and a second end within the body, and a conductor electrically coupled to the second end of the electrical contact. The electrical device also includes an access region defining a cavity and a surge arrester that electrically couples to the conductor through the access region. The cavity provides access to an interior of the electrical device. The access region may include an insulating projection extending from an insulating body of the electrical device and a conductive cover surrounding the insulating projection. The insulating projection defines the cavity. The conductive cover is electrically isolated relative to a conductive shell that surrounds the insulating body.
Abstract:
A fuse state indicator for a fuse including a cylindrical fuse body and a primary fuse element therein, includes an extension member, a transparent lens, a combustible substance adjacent the lens, a secondary fuse link adjacent said combustible substance, and a curved backing layer adjacent said secondary fuse link. Said backing layer is at least partially concealed by said combustible substance when viewed through said transparent lens before the fuse has opened, and said backing layer maintains said secondary fuse link in position with respect to said combustible substance.
Abstract:
A magnetic component includes a first monolithic core structure having a plurality of magnetic layers and at least one nonmagnetic layer separating one of the plurality of magnetic layers from another of the plurality of magnetic layers. A first opening extends through the first core structure, and a conductive element establishes a conductive path through the first opening, wherein the nonmagnetic layer separates the conductive element from one of the magnetic layers.
Abstract:
Relay devices, systems and methods for obtaining an accurate representation of a current monitored with a Rogowski coil, without integration of the Rogowski coil output voltage signal in the time domain.
Abstract:
A latching mechanism for joining separable insulated connectors employs a plurality of finger contacts to create an interference fit with an electrode probe of an elbow connector. The electrode probe enters a cylindrical grouping of the plurality of finger contacts and a projection causes an interference fit between the finger contacts and the electrode probe. The finger contacts latch the connectors together and require a removal force greater than the latching force required to latch the connectors. The latching mechanism provides a multi-point current path between an elbow connector and a power transmission or distribution apparatus and provides operator feedback to indicate the latching of the mechanism.
