    摘要: A radar level gauge system for determining the filling level of a filling material in a tank is disclosed. The system comprises a transmitter for transmitting measuring signals towards the surface of the filling material; a receiver for receiving echo signals from the tank; processing circuitry for determining the filling level of the tank based on said echo signal and adapted to compare said determined filling level with at least one preset threshold value and to produce an alarm signal in dependence of said threshold value; and a storage means for storing the preset threshold value, wherein said threshold value in said storage means is replaceable and/or adjustable. The alarm signal could indicate high level and/or overfill. The possibility of adjusting/replacing the threshold values enables adjustment of the alarm levels when the system is already installed.A corresponding method of operation is also disclosed.

    摘要: A tank gauging system for sensing product parameters of a product contained in a tank is disclosed. The system comprises a microwave-based level gauging unit and a temperature gauging unit. A controller of the system includes an external interface adapted to enable communication between the tank gauging system and an external control system; processing circuitry configured for management of communication over the external interface; and a power supply, which is enclosed in an explosion-proof housing and configured to supply intrinsically safe power to the gauging units, wherein the power supply has an essentially rectangular output characteristic. Further, an intrinsically safe two-wire bus connecting the controller and the gauging units is provided, wherein the two-wire bus is usable both for transmitting measurement signals related to the sensed product parameters from the gauging units to the controller and for providing intrinsically safe power from the controller to the gauging units.

    摘要: A radar level gauge (RLG), intended for measuring with a close-range low-power radar a distance to a content surface in a container relatively to a measuring position, which is located above the surface and fixed in relation to a lower boundary of said container. The RLG comprises a transmitter for transmitting an electromagnetic transmitter pulse, a signal medium interface connectable to means for directing said transmitter pulse towards said surface and for receiving a reception pulse reflected back from said surface, and a receiver for receiving said reception pulse. A switch connects said signal medium interface to said transmitter while said transmitter pulse is transmitted, and said signal medium interface to said receiver while said reflected pulse is received, the switch having a switching time short enough to enable short distance detection.According to this design, signal losses can be reduced significantly compared to prior solutions.

    摘要: An apparatus for gauging the level of a liquid, above which a gas having a dielectric constant within a predetermined dielectric constant range exists, comprises a transmitter for transmitting a microwave signal in a propagation mode in a tube through the gas towards the liquid surface; a receiver for receiving the microwave signal reflected against the liquid surface and propagating back through the tube; and a processing device for calculating from the propagation time of the transmitted and reflected microwave signal the level of the liquid. In order to essentially avoid the influence on the calculated level by the dielectric constant of the gas above the liquid, the transmitter is adapted to transmit the microwave signal in a frequency band, at which the group velocity of the microwave signal in the propagation mode in the tube is, within the predetermined dielectric constant range, essentially independent of the dielectric constant.

The antenna assembly comprises a dielectric antenna body having a conical external surface facing an interior of the tank and an internal surface facing away from the interior of the tank, when the antenna assembly is arranged at the opening in the tank wall, and an antenna feed coupled to the transceiver, and configured to propagate the transmit signal towards the internal surface of the dielectric antenna body as electromagnetic waves with convex wavefronts. The internal surface of the dielectric antenna body is shaped to refract the transmit signal from the antenna feed in such a way that the transmit signal propagates towards the surface of the product in the tank as electromagnetic waves with substantially planar wavefronts, following passage through the dielectric antenna body.
