Abstract:
A multiple dwelling interface box has a plurality of individual customer compartments to provide distribution to individual customers from one secure compartment housing communication company equipment. The box will contain up to six single or six two line modular customer interfaces. The invididual securable compartments are provided for easy invididual subscriber access on a panel or partition that hinges to provide access to the telephone company equipment, but which panel can be locked to prevent customer access to the communication company equipment.
Abstract:
An attachment is provided for a feed auger of the type having a cylindrical drum mounted for rotation about a longitudinal axis, spiral flights mounted on opposite longitudinal ends of the drum, and a central drum portion having a plurality of radially extending feed fingers. The attachment is resilient and is mounted on and extends radially from the central drum portion about the fingers. During operation of the auger, the attachment prevents the accumulation of vegetation on the auger, improves the feeding of the vegetation to the combine throat and protects the auger from damage.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of a substantially water-insoluble, particulate sodium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose, suitable for use as an absorbent in tampons and other catamenial devices or the like. The process involves heating solid, water-soluble sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, having a degree of substitution of at least 0.4, with carbon dioxide gas to substantially insolubilize the carboxymethyl cellulose and convert it to a form suitable for absorbent applications.
Abstract:
Phenolic complexes of water-insoluble but water-swellable crosslinked N-vinyllactam or N-alkyl-N-vinylamide polymers in the form of porous beads or granules and a process of preparing same. The complexes are particularly suited for use in situations wherein phenolic materials in limited quantities are desired such as, for example, in canisters or columns which are used to treat liquids or water. The novel complexes are prepared by adsorbing a phenolic material onto the porous granular or porous bead-like crosslinked N-vinyllactam or N-alkyl-N-vinylamide polymers.
Wherein Y represents -OH and O-R1 and Y and R2 together represent a single bond of an imide ring. X represents either OR -O-. R1 represents the same or different hydrocarbon radicals containing from about C6 to about C36 carbon atoms selected from the group consisting of normal chain alkyl, branched chain alkyl, cycloalkyl and alkylaryl radicals. R2 represents H or the same or different hydrocarbon radicals containing from about C1 to about C30 carbon atoms selected from the group consisting of normal chain alkyl, branched chain alkyl, cycloalkyl, and alkylaryl radicals wherein the sum total of carbon atoms represented by R1 and R2 is not greater than C36 (when X O, or an imide nitrogen,R2 does not exist). R3 represents either hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or phenyl. R4 represents either hydrogen or methyl, which compounds are particularly useful as thickening agents for solutions of high ionic strength.
