    摘要： This invention is directed to an element substrate including a plurality of print element arrays in which print elements are arranged at different arrayed densities. The element substrate can efficiently transfer data to each print element. The element substrate includes the following arrangement. More specifically, the first print element array having a relatively large number of print elements, and the second print element array which is equal in length to the first print element array and has a relatively small number of print elements are juxtaposed. The element substrate includes one shift register which holds data for driving the print element of the second print element array, and a plurality of shift registers for dividing and holding data for driving the print elements of the first print element array.

    摘要： Performing a high-speed recording operation using a slender liquid discharge head substrate causes an uneven temperature distribution for each energy generating element because the center portion of the liquid discharge head substrate is more liable to accumulate heat than the end portion thereof, which may affect the quality of a recorded image. For this reason, the surface of the energy generating element which contacts liquid is separated into a first region and a second region in which a protection film is thicker than the one in the first region, and the area in the first region for the element positioned at the end portion of the array of the elements is made greater than that in the first region at the center portion thereof.

    摘要： An element substrate includes a plurality of printing elements, a plurality of driving circuits which drive the plurality of printing elements, an input unit which inputs an enable signal to define the driving period of each printing element, a shift register which inputs a print data, a latch circuit which stores, in accordance with an externally input latch signal, the print data output from the shift register and outputs a print data signal, a time-divisional selection circuit which generates a block selection signal to divide the plurality of printing elements into a plurality of blocks and time-divisionally drive the printing elements, and a delay unit which changes the drive timing between the printing elements in a single block. The delay unit delays the enable signal and the print data signal.

    摘要： A substrate has M×N heater elements divided into N blocks and time divisionally driven in units of the block, and signal lines for supplying M bits of signals for selecting elements to be driven in each block. The signal lines are divided into two groups, each extending toward the center of a heater element array from a start point at either end side of the array in the array direction, and being used to select M/2 elements closest to the end side of the array. In each groups, the M/2 bit signal lines are arranged so that the number of the signal lines is decremented as the distance from the start point increases, and that the remaining signal lines are shifted toward the array. A temperature sensor for the substrate is provided in an empty area produced at a position corresponding to the center of the array by the shift.

    摘要： Plural electrothermal transducers (heaters) belonging to each of blocks having different driving timings are constituted as one group and are connected to a common interconnecting wiring in units of one group. Plural lines are connected to the common wiring such that the plural lines are extended to return with respect to the heaters and are each arranged to extend in an adjacent or sandwiched relation to the heaters. A printhead substrate, a printhead, and a printing apparatus can be provided which can realize higher quality of a printed image and a higher printing speed by arraying the heaters at a higher density while ensuring a sufficient area for arrangement of each of the heaters.
