    摘要: Air operated material handling equipment moves containers having elongated longitudinal axes from a mass in a bulk storage zone, wherein the longitudinal axes are disposed vertically and in side-by-side relation over a transport surface having a prearranged pattern of flotation air jet openings in the surface slanted in a downstream direction. The transport surface is divided into a plurality of zones including a bulk storage zone and a single file zone with one or more intermediate transport zones therebetween. The intermediate transfer zones have converging sides to move the containers from the bulk storage area into single file. Jets of air are delivered by angularly-disposed floatation air jet openings to lift, support and to move the articles forward. Additional acceleration jets of larger size accelerate the leading containers to separate them from the mass of containers in the intermediate transport zones to move them into single file. The converging sides bring the forward portion of the mass into an equilateral configuration and cooperate with the acceleration jets to move them subsequently into isosceles triangular configurations with an ever increasing base length and finally into single file.

    摘要: A pneumatic elevator for containers is provided wherein a vertical duct has end portions with nozzles in the form of holes extending through the ends and entering the duct in a downstream direction. The sides of the duct are provided with guide rails and at least one side is provided with a plurality of apertures along the length thereof through which air, introduced into the duct through the end nozzles, is exhausted. The size and angle of the nozzles are correlated with the static pressure differences across the jets to provide the requisite duct static pressure with respect to the size and number of apertures in the inner side which determines the volume of air exhausting from the can duct. Differential static air pressure separates each can from the other to minimize scratching and denting. The lower end of the elevator may be provided with an in-feeder to feed cans into the elevator from storage or from an accumulator and the upper end of the elevator may exhaust into a deaccelerator which slows down the cans coming from the elevator and positions them at the proper speed and spacing for the subsequent work station.

    摘要: Air operated material handling equipment for use with similar articles which may be received separately, or en masse from intermediate bulk storage with apparatus for dispensing the articles for movement along one or more guided paths in an organized series of individual pieces disposed closely adjacent one to the other but with additional capability for providing narrow space intervals therebetween whereby the pieces are moved essentially on a single piece basis. Containers having elongated longitudinal axes are moved from an orientation wherein the longitudinal axes are disposed vertically and in side by side relationship through a confined channel having cooperatively curved inner and outer radiuses to a zone of reception and storage wherein the longitudinal axes are disposed in side by side and stacked relationship. Subsequently the articles are moved from such position down guide chutes and/or over a cascade element to separate individual articles and for moving such individual articles in one or more single row arrangements laterally and sidewardly along a guided path wherein the longitudinal axes are horizontally disposed along a single plane with the articles in the desired single piece series arrangement. Jets of air are delivered by angularly disposed nozzles to impinge against the articles for separating such articles from bulk storage and for movement to a single piece aligned position. Additional air is discharged in sheet or bulk air blast to facilitate the desired separation and dispensing of articles and also to prevent damage to such articles when being moved or dropped in somewhat bulk relationships.

    摘要: An electric switch and signal output device for use in fluid systems. A light source and photosensitive pickup are disposed in aligned positions in a cross bore of the switch body at opposite sides of a main bore that reciprocally receives a piston element. If fluid subjected to differential pressures is introduced to the main bore at one side of the piston or if fluid is introduced to opposite sides thereof, pressure pulses or changes in differential pressure in the fluid system cause movement of the piston away from or toward an interfering position with respect to the light path between said light source and pickup. Incident light at the pickup, which may be a photocell resistor, provides an output electrical signal change that is usable for control, position indicating, counting or logic purposes. The actuation sensitivity is changed by use of different weight pistons and/or by use of adjustable resilient means. The switch is adaptable for use with dashpot type devices where the incremental pressures resulting from dashpot movement provides the input signal. Use on an automatic pinsetter bowling machine is described.
