    摘要: The Fiber Channel Credit Extender (FCCE) (600) is a network device that is disposed between and connected to an end node (210) and an optical repeater (220). The FCCE (600) contains as many buffer credits as necessary, to solve bandwidth problems in a network. In a situation where maximum bandwidth is required in both directions of a link, the FCCE (600) breaks a single logical link into three physically separated “linklets.” The short-distance linklets attain maximum bandwidth by use of the existing buffer credits of the end nodes. The long-distance linklet attains maximum bandwidth by use of very high receive buffer credits in the FCCEs (600). In this way, only those links that need maximum bandwidth over distances not covered by end-node credit counts need be attached to an FCCE (600). The FCCE (600) contains the optical repeater to gain distance on that link, and contains high credit count receive buffers to gain bandwidth on the link. All other ports of the switch can have smaller and less expensive receive buffers.

    摘要: A high performance switch fabric element and flexible link interconnection topologies and frame addressing techniques therefor are disclosed. The fabric element, which may be a 16 port ASIC with internal steerable interconnection among all ports. The fabric element ports each have a unique local routing table, thereby avoiding the need for a global routing table for ports as is provided in the prior art. This also permits addressing and routing from port to port within the fabric element without need for look-up references from off the fabric element, thereby contributing to speed. The fabric element can be used in multiples interconnected by unique link interconnection techniques including cascade, mesh, microstaging, and combinations thereof. These link interconnection techniques provide unique switch topologies that permit high performance switching chassis or network box having a significantly larger number of ports than is achievable with the prior art techniques.

    摘要: A sample retention apparatus for use in a device for measuring hemostasis. The device for measuring hemostasis may include a sample articulation apparatus including a guide shaft coupled for articulating motion to a drive motor, a sample carrier secured to and axially moveable along the guide shaft between a sample ready position, a sample testing position and a sample ejection position. The sample carrier therefore articulates in unison with the articulating motion of the guide shaft. A measuring apparatus may include a sensing column. The sample retention apparatus may include a sample cup defining a volume within which a sample may be disposed. The sample cup may be adapted to be operably positioned within an aperture formed within the sample carrier. The sample testing apparatus may also include a sample pin that is engageable with the sensing column. The sample pin may include a tip portion for extending into the sample cup. The sample pin may also include a flange extending radially outwardly from the tip portion for substantially completely enclosing the sample space during measurement of hemostasis.
