摘要： A generation section periodically generates access frequency information for identifying an access frequency of each data item according to a status of write access of the data item transmitted from a host device to a storage device. Whenever access frequency information is generated by the generation section, a determination section determines whether to write data saved in a hard disk into the storage medium, or to hold a saved state of the data. A write section writes data into the storage device according to determination by the determination section.

摘要： In a liquid crystal device, spherical-shaped semiconductor devices are mounted in a dispersive fashion on a wiring pattern extending toward a liquid crystal sealing region from input terminals connected to a flexible board. Each spherical-shaped semiconductor device is produced by forming a semiconductor device element on the surface of a spherical-shaped semiconductor material. In production of an electro-optical panel, MIS transistors are first produced in the form of spherical-shaped semiconductor devices, and then one spherical-shaped semiconductor device is installed in each pixel on an active matrix substrate, thereby allowing the MIS transistors to be produced at an optimum temperature without restriction caused by heat resistance of the substrate. When the active matrix substrate is adhesively bonded to an opposite substrate, the spherical-shaped semiconductor devices serve as spacers which allow the substrates to be precisely spaced a desired distance apart from each other.

摘要： A semiconductor device in which electrical connection between a spherical semiconductor and a substrate can be reliably effected and a method of manufacturing such a semiconductor device. The spherical semiconductor includes contact pads that are treated to create a higher wettability with the fixative material (e.g. solder) then the wettability of the semiconductor material surrounding the contact pads. The substrate includes terminal which may be similarly treated to create a higher wettability with the solder than that of the substrate material surrounding the terminals. The difference in wettability and the surface tension of solder creates a biasing force that causes the contact pads and terminal to bond in an aligned manner. Additionally, the substrate may include a recess 150 in the area where the spherical semiconductor 11 is mounted, with terminals 151 being formed in this recess 150. The center of balance of the spherical semiconductor 11 is deviated, so that, when micro-vibrations are imparted to the substrate, a predetermined part of the spherical semiconductor 11 is directed downward, resulting in the contact pads 111 of the spherical semiconductor 11 being aligned with the contact pads 151 of the substrate 15.

摘要： A liquid crystal display apparatus is provided which requires a small, thin and compact area for mounting semiconductor chips for driving liquid crystal and, accordingly, has a reduced cost. Semiconductor chips for driving liquid crystal are mounted on a surface (for example, a first layer) of a multi-layer substrate. The surface has input lines to the chips and output lines from the chips. The input lines have lands for connecting adjacent multi-layer substrates to each other. At least one intermediate layer is formed between an upper layer and a lower layer, the intermediate layer having bus lines. The bus lines and the input lines of the first layer are connected to one another via through holes in the first layer. The output lines of the first layer and terminals of the third layer are connected to one another via through holes in the first, second and third layers.

摘要： A magneto-optical disc (1) includes a write/read magnetic layer (4) with high coercivity on a substrate (2) and an auxiliary magnetic layer (6) with low coercivity thereon in a magnetostatically coupled manner. Both the magnetic layers are recorded. Prior to or during reading, an external magnetic field of controlled strength is applied to initialize the auxiliary magnetic layer (6). The recorded magnetization information in the write/read magnetic layer (4) is read out by irradiating reading light from the side of write/read magnetic layer (4). Reading with improved C/N is possible.
