摘要: A mechanism for feeding a fastener including a housing having a longitudinal axis and at least one fastener within the housing. The fastener has a crown and at least two legs extending therefrom. The fastener is disposed within the housing in a first plane parallel to the longitudinal axis. The mechanism includes an elongated actuator disposed within the housing. The actuator has a shaft substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the mechanism and rigidly spaced from the fastener in a second plane. The actuator has at least one radially extending advancer disposed along a length thereof, and a mechanism for rotating the actuator so that the advancer engages the fastener.

摘要: A method for feeding a fastener including the step of providing a device having a housing, at least one fastener within the housing, wherein the fastener is disposed within the housing in a first plane, an elongated actuator disposed within the housing, the actuator comprising a shaft substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the housing and rigidly spaced from the fastener in a second plane the actuator comprising at least one radially extending advancer disposed along a length thereof. The method further includes the step of rotating the actuator so to engage the fastener, and longitudinally moving the actuator to advance the fastener.

摘要: Devices and methods are provided for forming and securing a tissue plication. More particularly, the devices and methods of the present invention can be used to create multiple tissue folds on an anterior and posterior wall of a stomach cavity to reduce the volume thereof. In one aspect, a method of gastric volume reduction is disclosed that includes advancing a tissue acquisition and fixation device endoscopically into a stomach, manipulating the device to form a first fold of tissue on an interior surface of an anterior wall of the stomach, and manipulating the device to form a second fold of tissue on an interior surface of a posterior wall of the stomach, where the second fold is not attached to the first fold.

摘要: Devices and methods are provided for forming and securing a tissue plication. More particularly, the devices and methods of the present invention can be used to create multiple tissue folds on an anterior and posterior wall of a stomach cavity to reduce the volume thereof. In one aspect, a tissue acquisition and fixation system is disclosed that includes an elongate shaft, a staple applying assembly having a proximal end coupled to the distal end of the elongate shaft and having first and second jaws, and a tissue acquisition member coupled to the staple applying assembly by a linkage mechanism. The linkage mechanism is configured to move the tissue acquisition member between a first position that is longitudinally offset and proximal to the staple applying assembly, and a second position that is longitudinally adjacent to the staple applying assembly.

摘要: Devices and methods are provided for forming and securing a tissue plication. More particularly, the devices and methods of the present invention can be used to create multiple tissue folds on an anterior and posterior wall of a stomach cavity to reduce the volume thereof. In one aspect, a tissue acquisition and fixation system is described that includes a staple applying assembly having first and second jaws, and a tissue acquisition member that extends substantially parallel to a plane running through the first and second jaws. The tissue acquisition member is effective to engage and position tissue between the first and second jaws, and the jaws are effective to apply at least one staple to the tissue engaged therebetween.

摘要: Devices and methods are provided for forming and securing a tissue plication. More particularly, the devices and methods of the present invention can be used to create multiple tissue folds on an anterior and posterior wall of a stomach cavity to reduce the volume thereof. In one aspect, a tissue acquisition and fixation system is disclosed including a stapling member having first and second jaws that are effective to apply at least one staple to tissue engaged between the jaws, a tissue acquisition member coupled to at least one of the first and second jaws, and a secondary tissue acquirer coupled to the tissue acquisition member. The secondary tissue acquirer is configured to engage tissue and maintain the tissue in position relative to the tissue acquisition member.

摘要: Devices and methods are provided for forming and securing a tissue plication. More particularly, the devices and methods of the present invention can be used to create multiple tissue folds on an anterior and posterior wall of a stomach cavity to reduce the volume thereof. In one aspect, a method of acquiring and fixating tissue is disclosed that includes inserting a surgical device having first and second jaws and a tissue acquisition member into a body lumen, positioning the device in a first position in which the jaws extend substantially parallel to a tissue surface, drawing tissue through the jaws by moving the tissue acquisition member away from the jaws, and driving at least one fastener through the tissue disposed between the jaws.
